Here are the results of the last 6 games vs Ohio State.
2003 OSU 19 Iowa 10 @OSU
2004 Iowa 33 OSU 7 @Iowa
2005 OSU 31 Iowa 6 @OSU
2006 OSU 38 Iowa 17 @Iowa
2009 OSU 27 Iowa 24 @OSU
2010 OSU 20 Iowa 17 @Iowa
So we are 1-5 in the last 6 games. What was different about 2004? That was the year we threw out the playbook and let Drew Tate throw the ball down the field. We had no running game and therefore we did not do the same thing we did every other year. Last year at OSU we scored 24 points (the most we scored in any game other than the win in 04) why? Maybe because we started a QB nobody had seen before and we went against some of our tendencies. Playing old fashioned smash mouth football does not work. They have better athletes. Hayden Fry knew this and played accordingly. Not that Hayden had a lot of success against OSU either. OSU seems to have our number no matter the coach. Like we have Penn State’s. It just seems we do better when we put in new wrinkles on offense, we have a real shot at winning. We can play it close to the vest and keep losing close games or we can open up the offense knowing we are not the favorites and maybe score more than 17 points. I’m not saying we should fire Kirk or KOK, or throw out the entire offense, just make some adjustments.

I have been vacationing in a Chilean mine with my mistress since last week.

What happened Saturday, did we win? There's no way our opponent scored the winning TD late in the 4th quarter again...

Wow, don't tell my wife, but I have been to every one of those games. Which is cool, but would like to see more wins. I don't know what needs to be done, but being more agressive certainly plays into it. The last two years, OSU has made plays that have won the game for them. Iowa had two opportunities at the end of each game last year and this year and couldn't do it. The blame seems to lie with everyone involved.

I would say that what happened in 2004 is that we caught Troy Smith in one of the first games he ever played. See different results every year after he actually knew what he was doing.

Yup....we knocked out their starting QB, Zwick.

2004 is the year OSU finished up 8-4 in the regular season.

8-4! Man, what a meltdown.

We scored 33 points in 04, that's as many as 03, 05, and 06 combined and we did it without running the ball. Just take the shackles off and let the players make plays.
