Iowa vs Oky State predictions

pin2win

@hagertony
125: MCD isn't battling some sickness but really think he comes up big here with fall
Iowa 6-0

133: Ramos will have a battle here against Morrison but this guy is on a mission and would be shocked if Ramos lost this match!
Iowa 9-0

141: Ballweg is starting to show he belongs in the top ten (which he is) and will wrestle great in this dual. Hawks rolling
Iowa 12-0

149: Kelly gets the nod and I feel sorry for him because Oliver is going to bring the pain. I have been telling everyone that Oliver is in beast mode. (put up 21 points in 1st period) If you think Kelly can keep this one close your in lala land. Oliver techs Kelly
Iowa 12-5

157: DSJ should have no problem I really wish Oliver would bump up to wrestle DSJ but it just won't happen. I do think Oliver would be DSJ though if he did bump up. Anyways DSJ gets a dec here.
Iowa 15-5

165: Maybe im the only one that thinks Moore doesn't have a shot here. Caldwell wins and it ain't pretty. Sorry
Iowa 15-8

174: The matchup of the night and it will determine this dual. How can you not be on the mustache train? Evans has come alooong way from when he first stepped foot on campus and brands and co are noticing their hard work and mike's hard work pay off. I think Evans though can't get it done against Perry. Perry is a different wrestlers then Heflin and pulls out the win for OSU.
Iowa 15-11

184: still not a believer in Lofthouse with the crowd rocking that is if Evans loses Lofthouse will lose his match in an upset for OSU.
Iowa 15-14

197: Burak has been wrestling well and Rosholt has been reported hurt but is planning on wrestling. I think if he is hurt Burak gets the W
Iowa 18-14

HWT: Telford will keep this close enough to keep the Iowa victory but just can't get over the hump for the win.

Iowa 18-17

This dual is going to come down to the upper weights which we have been lack luster in past seasons so hopefully they come through in a big way.

You are banking a lot on McD getting that fall. Eeek.

i know

Ironside said that same thing during his pre-view on 1600am yesterday. He think that McD needs a fall in his match!

If we need a pin from McD and a win from Burak over the #5 ranked guy to win by a point i think we're toast. The lofthouse match is HUGE in my opinion. that's a scary thought.

-Who are you, Lee Corso? "Evans is the best thing ever.... but he'll lose", LOL.

-I don't think 2,500 "screaming" fans are going to bother EL.

didn't say anything about him being the best ever you are reading to much into my comment on evans he is getting a lot better and we don't necessarily need national champions. i think fans now believe he has a shot at being an AA 1-4th place as in earlier no one really knew where'd he end up.

and yes the 2500 fans will have an impact but the biggest impact will be from the match before

I agree with most of these except Telford. He hasn't been wrestling well...actually he looks like a baked potato on the mat. He loses his match and Iowa loses.

Edit: Changed my mind. Evans is going to win his match 5-3. Telford is still a potato that loses and Iowa wins.

You have Oliver getting a TF. He is 17-0 this year with 9 pins, 5 MD and ZERO TF.

Kelly lost a 10-1 decision to Oliver down at lindenwood. Kelly has never been pinned in College.

2 years ago Oliver couldn't get bonus against Tyler Clark and last year he lost to Ramos.

Kelly is strong enough to stay off his back. He knows what he is up against in Oliver and what his match means for the team score. He has met Oliver already this year and will be prepared.

Here is Oliver's record that Kwood referenced. Oliver does own 2 tech falls (#14 and 16 below). Ironically, his only non-bonus match was against a backup (English from PSU).
1. Jordan Oliver Fall Trent Robb (Neosho CC) :27 1-0
2. Jordan Oliver Fall Zack McClure (Benedictine) 2:57 2-0
3. Jordan Oliver Fall Anthonie Linares (Unattached) 1:47 3-0
4. Jordan Oliver Fall Ethan Raley (Lincoln) 1:07 4-0
5. Jordan Oliver Maj Mike Kelly (Iowa) 10-1 5-0
6. Jordan Oliver Maj Drake Houdashelt (Missouri) 12-4 6-0
7. Jordan Oliver Fall Seth Lange (Minnesota) 2:19 7-0
8. Jordan Oliver Fall Brandon Richardson (Wyoming) 3:26 8-0
9. Jordan Oliver Maj Nick Lester (Oklahoma State) 14-5 9-0
10. Jordan Oliver Fall Jared Presley (Chattanooga) 3:12 10-0
11. Jordan Oliver Maj Chris Villalonga (Cornell) 11-3 11-0
12. Jordan Oliver Fall Adam Healey (Bucknell) 2:14 12-0
13. Jordan Oliver Fall Ben Hunter (Navy) 2:31 13-0
14. Jordan Oliver Tech Matt Mincey (Minnesota) 23-6 14-0
15. Jordan Oliver Dec James English (Penn State) 12-6 15-0
16. Jordan Oliver Tech Chris Villalonga (Cornell) 18-3 16-0
17. Jordan Oliver Maj Cole Von Ohlen (Air Force) 21-8 17-0

He will at least major him I think

It would be a moral victory to keep it to a decision (and could motivate the Hawks with momentum since they will hopefully have 3 wins in a row leading up to this match, assuming it starts at 125).

Can you imagine the silence at Iba-Gallagher if Kelly caught Oliver and pinned him? Yes, I'm dreaming...but I've got a smile on my face!

125: McD by major. Iowa 4-0.
133: Ramos by decision. He can certainly get bonus points but Morrison looks much better this year than last. Iowa 7-0.
141: Ballweg by decision. Again, he's capable of getting a major here I think, but with it being on the road I'll stick with a normal decision. Iowa 10-0.
149: Oliver major dec. Kelly/Grothus. This is kind of optimistic but since Ramos and Ballweg may be able to get majors I won't pick Oliver by tech fall or fall. Iowa 10-4.
157: DSJ by decision. He just hasn't been aggressive recently. I hope that changes. Iowa 13-4.
165: Caldwell by decision. I'm 99.9% sure he'll win, but I think it'll be a toss up on bonus points. Iowa 13-7.
174: Perry pulls one out of nowhere like against Lofthouse last year. Iowa 13-10.
184: EL by dec. Iowa 16-10.
197: Byers by dec. Thank god he's hurt or this would almost certainly be bonus points. Iowa 16-13
Hwt: Gelogaev dec. Telford. The Russian seems like he's hurt pretty frequently but Bobby does not look particularly good.

16-16 team score, but unlike last year I think Iowa will win on criteria.

I love me some Mike Evans as much as anybody.. But Perry, at home.. in front of hundreds of friends and family...Really? Ah heck why not.. Evans wins 4-3!

There is muscle in that mustache of Mikie...

125 McD: WBF, He's got his rest and will be ready to go. 6-0 Iowa

133 Ramos: WBD: Will be an exciting match that will go down to the wire. 9-0 Iowa

141 Ballweg: WMD: Ballweg is a top 5 wrestler in my opinion. He puts up points, even close to a TF. 13-0 Iowa

149 Kelly: LMD: Kelly is strong enough to stay off his back, which will be is only goal. I could even see Kelly getting a cheap TD against a tired Oliver at the end of the match to avoid the major. 13-4 Iowa

157 DSJ: WBD, Derek is undefeated wand will stay that way here. He hasn't been putting up the points lately, so regular decision is what I see. 16-4 Iowa

165 Moore: LMD, Caldwell is putting up a lot of bonus points right now. Would not be surprised to see a fall here. 16-8 Iowa

174 Evans: LBD, Stash is on a roll, but Perry is a different animal. Good in all positions, and puts up a lot of bonus points. Evans needs to stay disciplined, particularly on top, to not get caught in a dangerous position. 16-11 Iowa

184 Lofthouse: WBD, EL is maddening but he wins. Shouldn't be any different here. 19-11 Iowa

197 Burak: LBD, If Rosholt goes, he'll win. If a back up, then Burak can probably beat who ever that is. 19-14 Iowa

HWT Telford: LBD, Telford is not wrestling aggressively, which will help him in the beginning, but do him no good when he needs takedowns in the 3rd. 19-17 Iowa
