Iowa vs Northwestern Two Deeps

Thats interesting and thanks for pointing it out. I wonder why Goodson is still listed 3rd in the depth chart. And I wonder if he would be averaging 6.9 ypc behind that line.

It wasn't just the line, it was the threat in the passing game that opened up the run game. No one respects Iowa's passing game right now.

Damn, what a good team. And the O line was so good it made Wehger a very good back. Now we have Goodson, who could be fantastic, getting crushed.
Don't forget A Rob!

'09 Rushing:
AR 181 att, 834 yds, 4.6 avg, 5 td's
BW 162....., 641...…, 4.0...…, 8

And we still lost to jNW that year.

Yeah, we lost a 10-0 lead after the first qtr because of Stanzi injury and KF having not given Vandeberg any in game snaps by game 10. I know the 2009 team had some close games but I think that is also very much on KF's philosophy and I think not getting his players pumped.

Where and when the 2009 team won their games is amazing and no way UNI and ARk St should have been close to that team. Way too cautious of coaching.

And this was also the game of the phantom Eubanks holding penalty in the 4th qtr which negated a long Wegher TD run. Iowa was the better team that found a way to lose by fumbling in their own endzone and not ready with the backup qb. And KF will not have any meaningful snaps for his new QB next year.

Geez... It's November already and Stross is still listed as a starter over McNutt. I swear this coaching staff will never get a clue. Any chance these bozo's will be replaced anytime soon? Can we get a new OC?

McNutt had just changed over that year and maybe didnt have the whole playbook but I really know what you mean.

It was two long pass plays both to McNutt in this very game that got the hawks out to the quick 10-0 lead.

For the year
Stross 31 catches, 414 yds, 13.4 avg, 1 td
McNutt 34 ………., 674...…., 19.8...…, 8

Not exactly equally productive, but that's KF...

I was attempting to be a smart ass and imitate the complaining in the current Northwestern thread about underclassmen not being listed in the depth chart. Yes, McNutt played plenty even though he wasn't listed, as I suspect a number of current underclassmen will.

But you are right though. It was obvious that McNutt had earned his way the lineup before he had made his way up the depth chart. None of this is new though. It's been the way of things since forever. But some people feel the need to bitch about players being left out of next weekend's lineup.

The reason the backup QB doesn't get the snaps is because it is a personality/politik driven decision. He doesn't want the "controversy" of some journalist writing a column pointing out that CJB seems to have the "it" factor that Rudock lacks. Same with at least 2 other QBs before Rudock. And Rudock wasn't bad, it's just that he wasn't as good as someone else on the roster. As a true frosh Stanley leaped over Weigers before he had ever had a chance to show what he could do in a game. Stanley was the apple of "someone's" eye before he stepped on campus. In 2008 we stole a 4-star elite 11 QB from Michigan and KF went with Vandenberg and iirc Weinke never got to throw a pass. I'm sorry, that's extreme. If Iowa can let a punter/kicker throw a pass certainly letting a 4-star QB throw a pass in his 5 years isn't too much to ask. But it is too much to ask if you're a control-freak who can't stand having anyone question the decisions you make. Brian is very much his father in that respect. The difference being he doesn't feel the need to hide it. And because of that I respect him a little more than his father, who is much more calculating than people give him credit. ----- now go to town cousinbreeder

5 posts in a row about me. It's funny, but unhealthy.

I should get one of those signature widgets that update every time you post about me.

Maybe it could make the Super Mario coin sound. Last time your streak hit 15 posts in a row mentioning me, let's shoot for 20 this go 'round

Weinke was not that good. He was a Lloyd Carr recruit and Carr was out at Michigan so Rich Rod cut him loose because he didn't fit the Rich Rod system. He got a 4 star ranking because the whole system is just a feedback loop. If you get an offer from Michigan, you must be good, so the logic goes. Vandenberg wasn't bad until Greg Davis burned the offense to the ground. JVB had a 25/7 TD to INT ratio his first year as a starter and damned near won a road game in Columbus in his first career start. We just all remember his dismal senior campaign.

I blacked out his senior year when we played Penn State, so I at least don't remember that one ;0

"Weinke wasn't that good" Okay . . . based on what? Seriously, I'll click on the youtube link you provide showing his fail.

You lost the debate before it began when you trotted out the whole "Iowa's offense sucked because of Greg Davis" really? Who hired him and why? Why has it ranked so low all the years Davis wasn't here? When the guy who hired him had a chance to replace him can you tell me the proven commodity he was replaced with? None of us have any idea how good/bad Weinke was because he was never given a chance. Neither was Sokol, Shimonek, Weigers. I mean you may not remember 2012 was a complete implosion, if you're trying to tell me only one QB on the roster should've taken 100% of the snaps in that season, well . . . . Deep down, you know and I know, that you know the pride & stubbornness I'm referencing. We've had QBs who were punters (Weinke) and pk holders, and how many trick plays where we take advantage of their arm? Zero? There is a reason, and you can lie to yourself and me and everyone else about what that reason is. But that's cousinbreeder territory and I choose to believe you are better than that. But I'll listen if you want to prove me wrong about the previous sentence.

You got me. Weinke was better than Peyton Manning. But Ferentz didn't play him because he didn't like the cut of his jib. Best quarterback to ever come through the program by a wide margin but Ferentz just didn't like him and wanted him to punt to keep him active with the team and dissuade him from transferring to Wisconsin where he would have won back to back Heismans.

Ferentz also pissed in the punch bowl when Sokol and Wiegers went to transfer. When Dabo and Saban called to get comments, he said "Nah, that guy sucks ass and he has a bad attitude" which then relegated them to transfer to non-P5 programs. Those guys would both be Pro Bowl level players starting on Sunday right now if it weren't for Ferentz.

Did you prove me wrong by delivering cousinbreeder-quality-content? I didn't read your reply because your moniker is Okeefe4prez . . . which means you really think he is great , which disqualifies you from all football conversations

or

you took the handle sarcastically which means you actually understand the same thing I do regarding our offense and you were trolling me
