Iowa vs Northwestern Game Thread

We kinda got lucky in the sense that we had a bad night against a bad team and got away with it. We will need a lot of that this year. Use good games to beat good teams, average games to beat average teams, and lights out games to hopefully beat some great teams. Would have been a shame to waste a great game at home against northwestern.

For most of the game we looked pretty good. I'd have to rewatch but I'd say it was 5-8 mins of bad ball that we played or so. And after we lost the lead we fought back and I think we scored our final 5 possessions. I give coaches and players both credit for that. Zero quit when things had pretty much gone to shit.

Yeah Northwestern prolly isn't going to amount to much this yr so what's this win mean in the grand scheme? Prolly not much resume wise. But a W is better then an L anyway you slice it. We'll take it.

Eight Tenths of a Second

I didn't have time to process the play

Suddenly the ball went thru the basket

Wildcats became baby kittens staring in disbelief

purr...

Rather than a roar

Just like a close loss is a good thing for a young team, a win like this can give them confidence it’s repeatable. Let’s hope they continue to grow, I’m shocked Dimbele sat as much as he did in the 2nd half and Fran watched our entire lead evaporate before he brought him back in. Not that he was doing anything. I just don’t get not bringing him back until the end.
Dembele doesn’t bring much to the floor. I’d rather see a healthy Traore start in that spot.

Made the mistake of telling my buddies that I really like Dix at the beginning of the game and I took alot of comments from that crowd the entire game, as I deserved. But by the end of the game and the walk off 3, I let em know I stand by my original comment!
Dix scored 22, how much grief could your buddies give you during the game?

Hard to argue and I agree. But Traore is out and the fact is, we need Dembele to step up and he’s capable. His play will determine Iowa’s season likely. I’d hoped and I think the coaches hoped/hope that Koch or Sandfort Jr. might be too hard to keep off the floor. They are super talented, depth and size will be a struggle all year, but they're still going to be good. Brock Harding is really good, lot of people were way wrong on him I think.

I watched Creighton and KS tonight in person. I’ve seen Iowa play this season. Iowa can beat either of these teams. Neither had a dominate player. Both teams had a lot of transfers. Teams are still figuring out who the are. So is Iowa. The B1G is going to be tough, but not impassable. Iowa is in great shape for a great season. Huge opportunity on Saturday. I don’t really give us a snowball in hells chance tho.
