Iowa vs. Nebraska for THE CORNBELT

We need a new concept for the instant rivalry we'll have with Nebraska. Trophies are cool, but how 'bout something with a twist.

I grew up a boxing fan and always loved the heavyweight championship belts. We could do something similar. The national media can't help but show our vast cornfields whenever either Nebraska or Iowa is seen on TV. If you can't run from it, embrace it. We could play for the CORNBELT. The winner could run across the field, grab the belt and throw it over one shoulder and across their chest.

The game and the trophy/belt would be an instant classic.

Bring on the CORNBELT!

since they just joined the BigTen in June, and since I am on facebook about once a month, both points are unlikely. however, regardless of who gets the credit, this NEEDS to happen ... I will go to facebook and seek out this group of which you speak

you arent missing much with the group tho! it was created on june 17 it appears.

Here is the link to my group I started. The history and the development of the cornbelt is fairly well documented. If you haven't already joined ..PLEASE Do!!! it is awesome to see others talking about it in random forums. There simply is not any other thing that will give us the national spot light every year on ESPN more than the vision we all share of a player holding the golden strap and its plates being engraved again and again with our Hawkeyes name. Now I definitely think a good rivalry will sway back and forth, but I just want the Hawkeyes to get a good lead on the HUskers since they have won every other meeting between the two schools except for way back in the day, like before cars.

The hold up is the licensing approval by both schools though Nebraska has been more vocal about it. Tell your friends to join though as I build my case.

Top Rope Belts has agreed to make the belt and I have just under a thousand dollars saved for its creation. I have been going back and forth about spending the money to advertise or just keep saving to make the solid belt. T-shirts can't be made with the logos due to the licensing but "The Cornbelt Championship BELT" title is owned by myself will be turned into T-shirts by Next season since I am having trouble finding distributors and printers for less than thousands of dollars as well.

We win, we get their corn sprinklers...then just set them on our side of the river for them to look at when their corn is dying in June...if they win, we give them...Dunlap...:D
 


I currently live in Nebraska and I can not wait for this match up. I really am curious when the respect level will come because im gettin so sick of the comments and looks. I think the trophy when we win will be the awesome silence of rediculous obnoxious husker fans. I went down to my local grocery store the other day and a retarded husker fan says nice fag shorts. Because my shorts had a hawk on them. I started to boil for a few seconds. Being 6 foot 3 and 250 i could have easily hurt this older chump. I took a breath and said "I cant wait" funny thing is this happens all the time. Im sure some of you guys live in omaha or close and hear the same stuff. What makes me crazy is me and my closest friends all live in this area and give the huskers much respect they are a good team. I think we deserve some respect aswell. I JUST WANT TO BEAT THEM SO BAD! all i want for christmas is a win over the huskers
