This always makes me laugh. We get our a$$es handed to us at the Breslin (as has happened since the damn building opened) and everyone goes into hand-wringing and teeth-gnashing mode. But if you look over the last 12 years, that game at the Breslin has had no bearing on how we play them away from there. Just look at last year. We were a terrible team, but managed to keep it close and had a chance to tie it with under 30 seconds to go. Not to mention we punked them by 20 at our place.
MSU is looking past us and we have nothing to lose. That makes for a VERY DANGEROUS combination for the favorite. We were the tougher team against Illinois and we will carry that lesson over to today. This team will not allow themselves to get beat up like they did in East Lansing. When you punch a bully back in the mouth, they give up pretty quickly.
Schematically, I expect us to throw bodies at Green all day and force anyone but him to beat us. On offense, I expect us to employ the same sort of tactic of sending our bigs flying downcourt after a make or miss to try to get something before their defense can get set. We will throw some different press looks at them to keep them off-balance and eat some clock.
Ultimately, they will come into this game expecting us to lie down like we did over there and once they realize they're in for a dogfight, it will be too late. First team to 70 wins.....Iowa 72 - MSU 68!
