Yeah, I know, but the Collins Cats have done things we didn't do this year, like win at Indiana and Wisconsin. We also played them before our weaknesses were adequately identified by the other coaches in the conference. Don't get me wrong, I think we beat them, but I still think there is a 10% chance we lose this game. And had you asked me 3 or 4 weeks ago, I would have said 0.00001% chance we lost to them in the second round after a bye, but a lot has changed.
Accroding to Teamrankings.com Iowa has 91% win probability vs NW, a 45% win probability vs Sparty, and a 15% BTT win, of note is than the win % is even split among 5 teams with No team having greater than 21% win probability and Nebraska having only. 1.4% win chance.
Iowa has an almost 50/50 shot Vs MSU (who has only 18% BTT win chance.).
IOWA hasa chance, it will be interesting to see how well Iowa handles the balls screens, and what player rotations Fran decides to use vs NW.

These supposed numbers make me laugh. These same numbers were used to try and convince me we had a "40%" chance to win at Michigan state. Well I watched that game and there is no way on earth we win that game 4 times out of 10. Bottom line is we do not match up well with Sparty. They are athletic, tough, physical, and more battle tested than we are. When motivated, which they will be in the tourney, we are a relative long shot to beat them. 45% probability! yeah right. So if we are essentially a 50/50 shot then the spread should be a pick me. And I would bet my house on Sparty straight up.

Yep, not to mention that Izzo is the elder statesman of conference coaches and gets virtually every call, meaning you better be at least 10 points better than them on any given day if you expect to beat them.

If they get to MSU, I'd say the spread will be like Sparty minus 6.5 and I'd take Sparty. I foresee a double digit loss. For the record, I think we could beat Wisconsin and Michigan on a neutral floor, just not MSU
Appling arm bars must be pointed out by Fran to Ref crew before game starts. Appling and craft get so much from the BIG Refs, I sometimes question them being unbiased with those 'pre season all americans' with reputations for defense.

I hope I'm wrong but most likely MSU punches Iowa in the face and Iowa curls up in a corner whining about the poor officiating. This team needs to fight back or they will lose.
All they have to do is punch us in the face 3 or 4 times early and the refs will stop viewing it as a foul. Then of course they will have to call a couple hand checks and moving screens on us to make up for the punch in the face fouls they called on MSU earlier.
