Iowa vs Minny on Big

Two legs good, four legs bad?

Running backs no big deal, we usually survive and thrive, D line, not so much?

I'll miss him to, but he is gone. We'll be fine.

If Coker would have slimmed down about 10 pounds he could have been a force at RB. He was still a good player, and got extra YAC no other back on our team would have gotten. But he was not very fast to hit the holes and didn't have extraordinary vision (especially at noticing cutback lanes). He will be missed nonetheless.

I wonder where Cooker is nowadays? Anybody know where he landed?

a microcosm of KFz's shortcomings

Excellent as a practice coach, general manager, and developer of young players.

Like a deer in the headlights on game day.

One of KF's worst coached games, easily.

It's easy to blame Kirk on this one, but we were pi$$ poor in the red zone that day and Meyer missed a bunch of FGs, not exactly Kirk's fault. But the coaches also had blunders in this game. Just a game that I couldn't even understand how we lost after it was over.

Of course there were multiple player screw-ups, there always are in any loss. The whole onside kick debacle was absolutely inexcusable, however, and falls directly on KF's shoulders. As did the decision to even attempt the first FG, when Iowa had 4th-and-goal on I believe the 2 yard line on the first drive of the game. Extremely questionable decision.

My lasting memory from this game was exiting TCF Bank stadium and as we got to the bottom of the stairs near the main Iowa section, all of the players parents that were in attendance had made a protective little flank around the Meyer family, I guess so none of the exiting fans would pop off about the missed FGs.

Just one of those random things you see at a game that sticks with you.

Kirk was awful this game. Not to mention the thats football quote how about Minnesota had five wins total in two seasons and two are against Iowa.

Wow! That's terrible! I would never say anything critical or nasty to a player or their family!

I was at that game too and it absolutely sucked walking out of there with the pig squealing sounds coming out of the PA! That poor pig. Who knows what they were doing to it!

With every passing day and like-minded post, we draw nearer to one another.  ;) :D

(Translation: I totally agree with your assessment of Kurt.)

I was at Minny the last two years and watched both debacles. Zooker and KF represent 100% of Minny's Big Ten wins the last 2 years. Inexcusable. No way could I watch replays of those games.

Kirk has long noted that Iowa has less margin for error than programs in more talent-rich states.

He is right. Which makes it doubly crucial for the variable he can control - COACHING - to be mistake-free.
