Iowa vs Iowa State secure through 2017

If they've made this announcement, its because agreement HAS been reached to lock it in thru 2017. My personal preference would be an every other year rotation, meaning each school gets a game at home against one another every four years...but its not to be, at least, not until at least 2018.
Clown if you read the contract article 13 clearly states the whole deal don't mean nothing if conferences change schedules. Funny thing is YOUR conference is on life support and your program is hanging on the edge due to the fact that 99% of the people in U.S.A. haven't a clue about ISU or your little football program...anyways back to the main point. It is a pollardism to say it is "locked" Pen!s nose pollard is at the mercy of BOTH the big 12 AND the big 10....and I find it very funny.

Mesa, you mean its not in doubt like ISU's trip to Utah next year? Oh wait, that had been announced by ISU already, but it got canceled when the Big 12 went to 9 games.

If the Big 10 goes to 9 games and the schedules don't fit, then the Iowa - ISU game is gone. Iowa will not play less than 7 home games. The money is too big. Remember home games in Iowa City are worth a whole lot more than games in Ames.

Future ISU vs Iowa games are scheduled for the 2nd week of the season, except for 2013 and 2014 when they are the 3rd game of the season. It was my understanding that the Big Ten has told the AD's to not schedule any OOC games for 2015 and beyond. I believe the schedule released by ISU is tentative based on what happens with Big Ten scheduling.

Iowa does have a another series scheduled with Pitt. Iowa will be @Pitt in 2014 (4th game) and Pitt @Iowa (3rd game) in 2015. Iowa is not showing any games beyond 2015 based on the website www.fbschedules.com.

If a 9 game schedule takes place in 2015 then Iowa has 1 home (Pitt) and 1 away (ISU) scheduled. There is no guarantee that Iowa will get 5 home conference games for 2015. In checking, ISU has four home conference games the years it would play Iowa at home and 5 home conference games when it plays at Iowa. In 2015 ISU would have 6 home and 6 away, in 2016 they have 7 home and 5 away, in 2017 they are back to 6 and 6.

In 2015 Iowa needs one home game if it has 5 conference home games. If it has four conference home games it will need two more out of conference home games in addition to Pitt. To make 7 the away game with ISU would have to be dropped. The future schedule for Iowa is dependent on what the Big Ten must do to accommodate 12 teams.
All Big 10 teams will want 7 home games. It means a minimum of six teams will get only four home conference games every other year. Iowa can asks to preserve the ISU series, but Michigan State, Michigan, and Purdue will want their series with Notre Dame as well. The conference can't accommodate everyone.

There is nothing new here. The contract was signed on May 28, 2008 and included a schedule of games through 2017. Section 13 includes the out clause for the scenario where a conference adds additional games. More significant is Section 11 which indicates that the liquidated damages for early cancellation without cause is only $500k per game - meaning Barta could just write a check today for $3.5mm and cancel the entire series without cause. The stakes get smaller each year and it is not outside the realm of possibility that Iowa would just cut a check and walk away if they needed to. The league will be going to 9 games - count on it. When that happens Barta has options without paying a penalty. If it doesn't happen, he still has options. $500k per game is peanuts.
