Iowa vs Illinois Prediction Thread

Iowa isn't that great at defending the 3 and we flat out can't shoot. MG is out and that really, hurts..

Iowa: 72
Ilinois: 70

In the end we pull it out because it's in Carver.

If the Hawk guards (without MG) can compete with Illinois guards they have a good shot of winning.
If not, I think the Hawks lose 64 - 56.

not sure if serious. Offensively, we are offensive. Defense didn't keep us out.

No, that was pure sarcasm. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I wonder who's still doubting Iowa's perimeter and help defense. Illini live by the three and shot 20% from three in first half, offensive rebounds and second chance points are keeping them in the game. Including free throws, Illinois has taken 14 more shots than Iowa has.

What ever. Look up the stats by guards driving to the hoop. That has an impact on 3 point defense. You would also need to break that down by who took the three's and what the score was at the time.

The MSU game was like pulling a sled of bricks uphill the whole way. And it was a scrum.

Boy your guards really killed us driving to the rim tonight, 18/63 from the field, 9/34 from 2's. But really that should have been 10/34 if your guy didn't get hung up by the rim on his dunk try.

Keep bringing that great analysis.

For someone who wants to analyze things you sure insult a lot.

Watch the game tonight on defensive position when 3's are shot. Hand in face...strong close out...good signs of good three D...see if Iowa does that. Seriously. Don't watch the ball, watch the defender.

Count the number of easy trips to the lane when iowa shoots out hard on D and get blown by.

Some of that is due to horrible help D. There is a reason why we are struggling to dance while playing the weakest B1G schudule. This isn't a stat to be necessarily proud of unless coupled with few easy baskets. Bet our defensive stats allowed under the basket is quite high. All goes hand in hand which includes bad interior D and improper 3 defense.

Like giving shutting down the pass and getting run over for 300 yards in football. The Hawks are not a good perimeter D team.

Where is this guy now? Did anyone else watch for strong closeouts and hands in face? I saw one perimeter shot that Iowa didn't close out on, and that was Egwu's wretched brick. Also saw blocked shots and drawn charges that were created by good help defense.

Haha...well buddy, considering I had the margin spot on, and nearly nailed the total I don't think Vegas would agree with your sarcastic assessment of my prediction skills.
