Iowa vs. Fat Pitzgerald A Sure Fire Night Game?

You should stay in Grinnell, they have a new hotel downtown that used to be an old High School. Their downtown scene is pretty decent as well with the new tap room right around the corner from the Hotel. The Grinnell folks have got their downtown scene figured out, I was impressed last time I was there. Across the street from the tap room (its Peacetree's tap room BTW) is an excellent restaurant that has a tap assault each month (they have 5-6 different Iowa craft brews on tap different craft brewery each month). OK sorry about that wandering topic just suggesting you could save about 15 minutes for the drive and actually have a decent night out on Friday. I wouldn't go downtown Newton at night...that town has really hit the skids.
We’ll be a group of three families with young-ish kids (well, two families + my son and me...I’m not married) so we won’t be going out at night unless you count Culver’s for supper. My kid (11) and I went downtown to the movie theater a couple years ago for a late movie and I didn’t think it seemed sketchy at all, but maybe you mean the bars are just dives...

Newton's crime rate is higher than 93% of other Iowa communities. Their average crime rate has been above the national average for more than 6 years. Violent crime has tripled in the last 10 years. Its a sketchy town that used to be a Jewel. I'm sure that Culvers is safe But right across the steet is a BBQ joint called MOOs. Just awesome BBQ...won awards with taste of Iowa.

Nobody can question whether you're from Iowa, that's for sure. ;)

Supper was a word I heard a lot from my parents and grandparents as a child. I don't think its use is limited to Iowa. The use of that word is pretty common in the Midwest

It's always been supper to me (from my family). My wife says dinner is ready. Of course, my family called the couch the 'davenport', the vacuum was a 'hoover', and all cola drinks were 'Coke' no matter what they really were. :)
