Bucknell at least has tournament history and is typically in the low 200's in Ken Pom most years. IMO, this is much better than the normal patsy Iowa schedules, still doesn't move the needle much for most I'd imagine.

Playing Drake at Wells would check so many boxes. My runner up would be Creighton.

Its a first year coach with a completely revamped roster. A light non-con seems prudent. Fran never scheduled a tough non-con. Moving a game to Des Moines is at least something different, and might avoid seeing another half-full Carver for at least one game.

Neutral site games in Sioux Falls and the Quad Cities have had really good fan turn outs. You will get a good crowd in Des Moines. You wish that the opponent would be a little “sexier”, but I get the rationale behind it.

Yeah, can't forget Drake............. that would be interesting. Maybe a more neutral cite, especially if Iowa trounces them. Overall I would say maybe wait a few years to play Drake. Let both schools move on for a while and get past the Drake/Iowa transition mode. No use in smearing it in the face of Drake fans.

If it were Iowa State we had done this too I would say SMEAR ON!!!
