Iowa to play at North Carolina in B1G/ACC

If our AD had any integrity, we would boycott this game. UNC is the dirtiest bunch of cheaters the NCAA has seen since SMU in the 80s. It's embarrassing to even take the floor with Crooked Roy.

I wish Branstad could take a queue from Washington and simply issue an executive order to have Crooked Roy arrested any time he sets foot in the state scouting Iowa's top high school players. I realize that may mean a sharp reduction in casino revenues.

Oh god here we go. Just go back to watching fox news and let the grown ups talk basketbal.l m'kay thanks.

This is a winnable game. Not predicting that Iowa will -- the Tar Heels will be good next year and Roy Boy enjoys a lot of home cooking inside the Dean Smith Center. But I would not list this one yet as a lead-pipe loss.

Looking at the conference schedule, I can easily see anywhere from 9-12 wins. For the 2k, I'd guess we see either Syracuse or Texas in the first game. I'm assuming those will be expected to be the top two teams in the field, so I doubt we play Cal in the semis. Definitely hope we see Texas first; that's a more winnable game and a win gets us a date with Cuse, which will give our RPI a good bump.

I think it could be one of those seasons when Iowa gets a strong early RPI due to the UNC, Texas, Cuse, ISU games, and despite possibly finishing as low as 8th in the league, Iowa could slip into the Dance. I do think that the Big Ten gets 7 teams in the dance, possibly 8. That could be Iowa, with a strong RPI, but a 20- 12 (8-10) type of record.

I think UNI is going to have a pretty good team as well.

So in this game Iowa will face one of the best players to ever come out of the state, one recruited by Fran, while Iowa's center will be seeing a legendary college coach he turned down to come to Iowa. Interesting.

My gut says it's a good thing the football schedule looks so favorable this year because, as Jon points out today, the start of the basketball season could be brutal. After looking at the schedule, I agree that it's doubtful Iowa will be able to return to the tournament this year. I'd dearly love to be wrong about that.

Is the rest of the non conf schedule set? If not,Fran better load it with cupcakes.

Texas will be a Top 10 team next season, I would much rather see Syracuse with all the folks they lost first, unless you are looking at it from an RPI perspective...Texas first.

Texas returns everybody from last year and adds a fantastic recruiting class, including the #2 player in the nation who just signed earlier this week.

I know Syracuses zone may give Iowa fits but Texas will be the better team next year, IMO.
