Iowa ticket sales brisk as season approaches

School ahead of selling pace on five of seven home games

IOWA CITY — Iowa still has tickets available for all games, but the numbers have stabilized in a positive direction for the athletics department.

Five of Iowa's seven games are selling ahead of pace from a year ago, associate athletics director Rick Klatt said. The Hawkeyes' annual game against Iowa State should notch the program's first home sellout in two seasons.

At the end of July, message boards were up in arms about the ticket sales under the mistaking belief that they were lacking. A positive article about current sales: crickets.

Bad news sells.

As in, the last time it sold out was also against ISU? Is that really something to brag about?

It is an issue. The students didnt buy them so they allotted the rest to general public.

Wait and see seems to be the best reaction. If Iowa had announced that all of a sudden all the games were sold out, then everybody would be saying wow.

But sales being slightly up and nothing is sold out yet? It does not sound like much has changed from last year, but I guess its better than sales being down. So lets just wait and see before we make any bold declarations either way.
