Iowa the #5 Team Poised for a Leap

I have very little interest in your history here, so to be honest, I kind of skimmed over what you posted above. What I can take is that you seem to have run-ins with a number of people here, while the only person who has a problem with me is you.

Besides that, I like Iowa's chances next year. There were many star players who left the conference this year, so while Iowa may not have the raw talent to become elite, I think their depth and experience will propel them to a number of quality wins.

Again, your first paragraph is extremely condescending. By the way, Ghost was banned for his "antics" on this site, that is why when people act like him I get mad. Also I don't know who you are referring to in the part about me having "run-ins" with a number of people. This site in all threads multiple people are "run-ins" with a lot of people. It's part of the whole internet/message board environment. And I wasn't the only person who had an issue with what you said in the other thread. I would have left you alone in this thread had you not responded to something that didn't involve you to begin with. So again, you started this, in this thread.

Thanks to dave3912 this thread about a positive Iowa mention on a national level has turned into a thread about Ghost and a football recruit.

Thanks alot dave.

I'm sorry I will stop. I like that Iowa gets this mention. I just hope that they can make this leap. I don't get Indiana because didn't they make the leap last season? Also didn't Minny just fire their coach. Pretty tough to start in year one and make that leap.

Re-read my OP in this thread instead of instantly complaining about the source.

Not true. I think you bring a lot of interesting points to the board, but you also come across incredibly arrogant. Just keepin' it real.

Before the NIT run, this team didn't have much more wins than 18 and that was with a WEAK schedule. The schedule this year is 100x more difficult. People are putting way to high of expectations on this team. They'll be good but until Fran can land a difference maker (or 2) this team doesn't have one. We have a good group of good players but Iowa won't rise above OSU, Michigan, MSU, Indiana until they can get a difference maker. Takes just one especially with Iowa given the supporting cast.

Yeah we have Marble but difference makers don't disappear for long stretches of the season. When Iowa lands a GR3, Adrian Payne, Yogi Ferrell, etc. type player that's the difference from Iowa being good to being great. I just want them to make NCAA tourney. If they make tourney it won't matter how many wins. The schedule is going to beat them up but will also make them tougher come tourney time (hopefully). People expecting this team to win more games than they did last year, as this article hints at, are going to be disappointed if that's what you're gauging their success on.

100X harder? Hyperbole is literally the coolest thing on the planet.

HawkeyeRyno refuses to let himself be happy.

Iowa's gonna roll through their schedule. This year is going to be awesome.

I actually think we are a breakout star (Marble, this is your job) away from being one of the best teams in the country but I think we'll still be the solid team we were last year with the actual ability to close games since the experience will likely help with the blowing every game in the last few minutes thing we did last year and we'll be a solid lock for the tourney.

I believe that Iowa is going to win more games in the B1G this year. they might lose one or two more games in the OoC portion, but the extra wins in conference will offset that. I believe 23 wins is a real possibility.

GO HAWKS!!!

We are such a deep team this year. We lost a great senior in May and I think that is being overlooked a little bit. He was such a solid player all year. But adding a player like Uthoff to the mix and tack on a year of experience to everyone else returning..there's absolutely no way this team doesn't reach 20 wins. I honestly believe we will be pretty much unbeatable in Carver this year. That will guarantee a bunch of quality wins right there and we will probably steal a few on the road as well. Enjoy the ride folks..it's going to be a lot of fun. Quit with the lame arguing in this thread and just be happy that we can actually talk about Iowa Basketball in a positive way again.

We won 20 games during the regular season last year. That's a minimum this year.

10-8 minimum in the B1G. May is a loss but the D will improve from the inside out.

The biggest weakness was shooting and that will be better with experience and new additions.

Minimum 6th in B1G- ceiling is 3rd.

2 consecutive years Iowa improved it's record by 7 wins and only loses 1 senior who averaged 5 points/game. That's cause for optimism. Open season on pessimists and with cause.

I would say the ceiling is higher then 3rd.

I agree and have called the number three finish as well. This is a breakout year as we gain a year of experience with a lot if players, we gain a couple players, and two if our best (whitey and marble) take it up another notch. Not to mention a couple big teams lose players. This is our year.

I agree and like yourself have predicted a top three finish in the conference. Can't wait to see if we are right. I also think the football team will surprise this year also. We are due.
