Iowa State...Naz Long

I'm surprised there's not a thread about this. Long is done for the year. He needs time to recover from the surgery he had on both hips in the off season and will seek a medical RS.

I find it interesting that he could play through this issue, pain, etc. through the preseason and first 9 games...including the Iowa game. But is now calling it quits at the exact time Deonte Burton is eligible to play after sitting out his transfer requirements.

Boy, they only went 7 deep really. Someone from the bench is really going to have to step up & get involved in the rotation. Too bad as they had a team to make a run. With that loss & now a short bench, odds really have gone down more.

Smart move by ISU really. They needed Long til Burton got eligible, and then they shut Naz down. Nice team move by Naz, and I don't have a problem with that at all personally.

I also think that's exactly what they did and it was a smart move. But I'm thinking twice about granting a medical RS if I'm the NCAA. He played in 8 of their 9 games and was averaging almost 32 minutes a game.

Whatever the case...They will miss him. He's the guy that hits all of the 30 foot bombs at the end of the games to get the W at the buzzer or force OT. This is not something just anyone can do. We have another thread devoted to this very subject.

It is going to hurt them for sure. I was just saying that it was a smart move. I don't think Thomas and Cooke can give them what Naz did, especially in the clutch like you said.
