Iowa Signs Four in 2015 Class

I like that we broke thru in Chicago, and Wagner looks like a stud athlete.

According to 247, Iowa has the 11th rated class in the Big Ten....so I am not going to pretend that this class meets my expectations for this year. Just like last year, we missed on many main targets but I give Fran credit for plugging away and having a plan B.

If having the 11th best class in the league is good enough to make the Dance ...fine. Otherwise, there are at least 10 Big Ten schools celebrating even more than Iowa. I see this class as once again having guys who are not complete players, outside of maybe Moss. Fleming is a 3 pt shooter who struggles to shoot it.
Hutton is a defensive specialist that struggles to shoot it. Wagner is an athletic stud who struggles to shoot it. Maybe they will learn to shoot it....but as we see with Aaron White...some guys never do master that skill. I wish we had landed Morrow and the two guys that went to Vandy...Sehic and the big guy. Alex Illikanen ends up at Wisky , Morrow to Nebby, along with the guard from St Joes who we pursued.

Water under the bridge now....welcome to Iowa , signees!
Nice pictures of Moss and Hutton in todays Suntimes.

ppppzzzzzzzzzzzzzt! There goes the air out of our balloon. Just a gut feeling, but this class is going to perform way better than 11th in the conference.

Of course that's just someone's opinion besides player development and chemistry are just as important as star ratings. Alford at one time brought in a class that was rated number five in the nation and how did that turn out for him? I agree with your assessment and think that this class will far and away exceeds that eleventh place rating. Next year when our best recruiting class has become seniors along with the then Juniors behind them, is when we will know what the potential of what Fran ball and the Iowa program under him is going to be about. This year could be a great year also as we have enough talent to be very good.

Not sure how good of shooters Hutton, Wagner and Moss are. Flemming, however has been touted as guy that shoots it very well, especially from 3. If Fran can get a quality big guy to add to this group, this class could potentially be very solid.

This class will be a lot better than 11th in the conference. In a few years Iowa will be considered one of the top teams in the country just like they are this year. These guys are going to be fun to watch. I was kind of worried about Kentucky until they signed their new five star point guard. they were in dire need of a quality point guard.

I think it's good to get a class like this every few years that is foundational, has a bunch of guys that will be there all four years and you can use to establish the culture of a program.

I agree with this and hope that this class proves to be that foundational crew.....could be.

Did not mean to pour cold water on fans....I do like this class....just noting that 11th ranking...did not make it up.

It seems that if KF has the 11th rated class in the league in football ( truly a developmental sport...much more than bb) some fans on here would be angry, but with Fran, he gets the kudos...just interesting how the standards are different for KF in his 16th year vs Fran in his 5th.

Sorry, but in football, ratings are less relevant, but in bb, I think they tend to be predictive.

I think it is important to get Fran type of players....athletes who can run and jump...and hopefully shoot. This class looks to fit that description.

But, lets not pretend that we did not pursue many guys hard before we even heard of Moss, Wagner and Fleming....we did, and came up short. It happens, but those guys have gone elsewhere and are rated above Iowa in class ratings....which means of course that Fran can identify the right talent.

San Diego St. is full of guys who can't shoot but are very athletic. Their model is athleticism and tough defense. Not that we're going to be on that level but it can be done. Plus, we'll have at least a few guys out there who can shoot.

Any new recruiting class is going to add excitement, as you never know how guys will pan out. But is it really fair to call this class "the fantastic 4" when they ranked 11th in the Big 10? That isn't going to bring home conference titles, unfortunately.

Its pretty easy to get excited when you see the recruits tapes. I think they form a good nucleus to bring home conference championships. You never know how a recruit will pan out, but its pretty obvious they have high potential. They should be fun to watch in a couple of years.

I think had Iowa landed Ulis this would have been the perfect class because Iowa would have that guy who could really break down defenses. IMO that is the only thing Iowa really lacks from a roster perspective, that kind of player. Maybe it's Dickerson or Moss I don't know.

Ulis has already been outrecruited for next year with another five star point guard. Ulis is a pretty nifty player, but there are a lot of quality players. I'm sure Iowa will recruit another point guard in a year or two. Moss looks like he could play the point, and I'm sure Fleming also. They both have seven or eight inches on Ulis.

I completely agree with this. Iowa lacks a good point guard which is so important in college bball. I hope Dickerson can turn into one, time will tell.

After thinking it over, I guess they are both around ten inches taller than Ulis.
