Iowa should give away tickets tomorrow night like Nova did tonight

Ha my plan that I thought up while typing isn't but I'm pretty sure they could come up with a flawless plan pretty easy. That new invention out called technology would probably make it easier.

Unfortunately that very old invention called "people" would make it much more difficult.

I did not bring this up to get attacked. I just thought it was interesting that Nova did it. As far as I could see you would not need tickets once you knew the number who showed up. People could just fill in. And I was thinking it it would mainly be students and IC residents who wanted to sit in the student section or just fill inif someone came late. I do not know if it would really be feasible, just an idea.

I knew what you meant...

My guess is Nova was not sold out and that is why they had tickets to give. I don't see a way for it to really work effectively with a sold out arena.

The concept is good and noble, but it would be a logistical nightmare and a liability risk. I was probably a bit snarky in my responses, so I apologize. It just appeared to me that you hadn't thought it all the way through.

Al Gore invented the internet and Al Gore thinks this is a wonderful idea. And, this is certainly another way to get back at the Global Warming causing all of this bad weather going on in Iowa City. Al Gore approves of this message.

Or those that can't go that have tickets could either sell or give them to someone that could go.

There is some precedence from ISU with this where they went the general admission/standing room only route in a somewhat similar matter (they were labeled standing room only tickets). The game in particular that comes to mind was two seasons ago in the last game of the Big 12 season against Baylor. Since the students were a bit hit or miss at the time in completely filling up their full alloted seats, ISU sold a bunch of GA/SRO tickets that game to make sure the place was completely packed. I actually bought one of those GA tickets. The end result was what JP was looking for as I've never seen so many people in Hilton, but I do remember a few that were stuck standing to watch the game as well, but not many. I also do remember a few season ticktholders griping about having to kick someone out of their seats, but not as many as I expected.

Sorry to bring up ISU here, but I just do so to say that something similar has been done for a sold-out game before. I'm also not necessarily saying it should or shouldn't be done either, Just using it as an example.

Maybe this will be the opportunity to get students on the sides BEHIND the visitors bench.... Ahhh I smell an evil plan brewing!

So if I can't go because of the weather and I live in des Moines I can give them to someone in my area who also can't go due to weather? My mind is blown.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but if I wanted to give my tix to someone in Iowa city, couldn't I contact the university and tell them the persons name and they can pick up their tix there, even tho I still have the originals at home? If I'm right on that then how is that any different than giving them to the university?

If they put it out there that people who can't make the game can call in and donate their tix back, they can have people call in and ask if there are any free tix still available. If there are, the university can get their info and have them pick the tix up at the door. If there aren't any left they can say no. Seems simple enough to me.

If I lived in Iowa City I would buy it for $17. If I already had a ticket I would be undercutting you and selling for $16.90.

Storm just got another two victims. My friend and I thought the "responsible" thing tongith would be listen to our wives and not make the drive from Burlington tonight. It better snow buckets sourth of I-80 to make me to stop dreading the fact I may have made the wrong decision. Damn you logical decisions not driven by irrational thought.

Tickets are down to $13...going to be a lot of empty seats.

As much as it pains me to say it. I think that will give me relief. If I were to watch the game from home and see a packed house knowing that I should be there it would have killed me. If hundreds/thousands of others made "the wise decision to not go out in this weather" then it still hurts, but provides consolation. I hate winter!!!
