Iowa should give away tickets tomorrow night like Nova did tonight

Just heard that Villanova gave away 750 tickets tonight
because they knew the weather would keep some fans away. With a storm predicted for tomorrow, Iowa should consider doing something like this. There are certainly logistics to consider, but CHA needs to be nearly full and rocking!

I thought all remaining games were sold out.

Seems like an impossible task. How would you know who is going to show and who isn't. Aren't all the seats assigned? This isn't against one of those preconference cupcakes. I think everyone that safely can, will make a concerted effort to be there.

I agree with the OP. Give general admin tickets away. They can fill in for those who don't show up. Iowa needs the home court advantage.

how do you give away tickets that aren't available to give away? scratching head......

They should give ticket holders the option to call in and say they aren't coming maybe. Some people won't waste their time but some would think its important to get as many people there as possible.

And how many people are going to drive to the game without a ticket and not knowing if any will be available. A logistics nightmare unless they could put the unused tickets online at the reseller stub hub site.

I think they let them in right before the game after knowing the ticket count. Obviously less tickets than empty seats and they would have to move for late shows. I am not sure of all of the details but announcers said it was because of all the no shows due to weather. Local people might come over. We are leaving for IC before the storm but not everyone can do that!

This plan seems pretty fool proof.

You clearly have AD experience, don't you?

This sounds like a logistic cakewalk with no chance of abuse/mistake/confusion/disappointment/liability.

They scan tickets at the door. If I call in and say I want to give my tickets away its not that hard to make it so my tickets don't scan and the new ones they print off do scan. I guess someone could be a ****** and call in to say they want to give them away, then sell their tickets to someone even tho they aren't any good anymore. That would be pretty messed up to do that to a fellow fan tho.

Why don't we fill the fieldhouse with fans that can make the game, but don't have tickets, and then just pipe the noise into CHA. Problem solved.

You are right. It is a flawless plan of action. My bad.

Ha my plan that I thought up while typing isn't but I'm pretty sure they could come up with a flawless plan pretty easy. That new invention out called technology would probably make it easier.

I'm not so much worried about getting to the game as I am getting home from it. Southeast Iowa's supposed to get hammered from noon on. Leaving around 3:00 so hopefully it's not to bad on the way there, but expecting a long drive home following the game.
