Iowa Shocks Evanston Prediction Thread

I think this game is all about who scores first. Getting points on offense is going to be tough for either team, so I think it will really come down to special teams and field position.

Seems like you could pretty much just flip a coin for this game, and NW should be favored since they are at home and don't have all of the injuries, but the good old Black and Gold glasses tell me 16-10 Iowa.

CJ will hand off alot, which means, not only is he already at risk, but JC will be, as well.

THEE 3 keys, in order of importance:
1) JC plays entire game AND rushes for 150+;
2) CJ plays entire game;
3) D contains Jackson to 100 or less.

The trifecta = Hawks win 30 - 17
Any combo of 1+2 or 1+3 and Hawks could still eek out a win 26-23.
Anything less and NwU wins big by 2 scores.

Sounds about right.

This is the first game where I'm not totally sure that I can predict a Hawk win. But what I do see is that Michigan, with a former IA QB, picked apart jNW with true freshman Karan Higdon (in part) and a lot of their backup RBs and then passing to TEs. Sounds a little familiar, huh? So maybe I see some hope in that.

Iowa 21, NW 10

J. Smith gets a nice TD grab on a fade route for his first career score and JC plows up the middle for 150 yards and a pair of TDs behind 3 experienced interior linemen. James Daniels flourishes in practice this week at RT and has a serviceable game, though does allow two CJB sacks from his side.

You gave a mathematical computation on what COULD happen under certain circumstances.

This is the prediction thread, MAKE A PREDICTION. Don't make me go "joker" on you.

I know I'm in the minority. Both MI and jNW are overrated. Even dinged up, this is an easy W.

Hawkeyes 35
NW 20

I dunno man, i have a hard time believing NW scores 20. Their PPG is just under 20, and includes 41 against eastern illinois? and only 24 against Ball state, who is giving up 36 PPGA? 8 men in the box all day long, shut down Jackson and force Thorson to make throws. I don't see it going that high...

NW has a good defense that shut out Minny just 2 weeks ago. Iowa's offense will struggle. Iowa will need a defensive or special score to make the difference, but none will come that day. Iowa will lose its first game of the year, but will rebound and finish 11-1

NW 17
Iowa 13

Kent State held Minnesota to 10 points. They have one of the very worst offenses in d-1.

I struggle to see where we get the points? We have been really bad in the redzone in conference play, like really bad.

We've scored a total of 13 points in the second half of conference games. That will not get it done against better teams. IL wasn't bad, but the game should not have been close if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot with dropped passes, overthrows, and missed FG

Throw in all the injuries, and I really don't see how CJ makes it through this game. NW is going to try and take him out, and they may not have to try very hard with two new tackles.

That being said, 99% of KF games are close and come down to the final drive. It's frustrating to watch....my pick

NW -- 20
IA -- 10

NW gets a late TD to seal it

jnw was very fortunate to beat Stanford. It's just like when BIG goes west and sucks. Stanford looked almost sleepy like in Evanston. Duke.....really! I believe Fitz's fighting kittens are overated. The Hawks are going to surprise everyone and win by the score of 28-12. Pitt was a better team than jnw!

It might be too early to predict based on injuries and who will play and how much. I think Iowa mixes it just like they have on offense...if the ground game clicks expect a lean to more canzeri...otherwise I see a couple big play tds for the hawks...a grind it out drive for a score and 2 fgs..Iowa 27-20
