Iowa right back in the thick of the title hunt!

I love it when people bring this up. I would hope the coaches and players are thinking about only the Indiana game and not the conference standings, but everyone on here is a fan who is allowed to get as far ahead of ourselves as we want and not make the slightest difference in how the team plays.

I agree, fans can project as far out as they want. The only problem is Iowa is very difficult to project. And the B1G in general is tough to project. Whether its the top teams being weaker than usual, the bottom teams being stronger than usual, or a combination of both, the B1G has become the "Game of Thrones" of the nation. No one is safe and there is no telling WTF will happen next.

It's nuts that we've avoided the bad loss thus far considering we always suffer a bad loss and every other BIG team has suffered one.

If I was Fran, I would sit this team down and show them the road map. Has this team matured? I think they have and I think PSU was the proof. But, I would show them the destiny this season could have IF they focus and play one game at a time. Knowing what is absolutely attainable, can sometimes be the biggest motivation to focus on the details. Man...this is fun again!! We've waited a long, long time for this and it's now here.

We haven't won a conference title in 35 years. I want it so bad. I'd consider trading it for a first round loss (yeah, yeah, it's the second round now)

Now all of a sudden Indiana scares the crap out of me...

Not the team, just the thought of a loss so soon after such a great Sunday of events for the Hawks.

The way this season's gone, I'm going to say we're fine at Indiana, Minnesota and MSU. It's Wisconsin, Illinois and Purdue that has to scare us. Road teams are winning like it's no big deal this year. None of the road games would be terrible losses, and Purdue/Illinois would be awful home losses. Those are the kind of games everybody's been losing.

Yes it is. Its much more fun to watch other teams (Minnesota, Nebraska) trying to stay off the bubble or get on the bubble while Iowa is in the hunt for a top 4 seed.

I'd love for Iowa to win the B1G too but they are much bigger accomplishments in college basketball. And a regular season championship means nothing in the tournament outside of the seed you get. A Final 4 would mean much more than a conference championship IMO.

A regular season B1G title followed by a loss in the round of 64 would be a very bitter pill to swallow.

Well, yeah, I'd take a final four over a conference title but I'd take the conference title over a tournament that ends before hand.

And really, winning a good conference is a more difficult accomplishment in reality. It's just more prestigious to make a run in the tournament.

I have never witnessed an Iowa Big Ten Championship in basketball (at least regular season) and I am 34. But if I had to pick one or the other, I would take a deep run in NCAA tourney over a Big Ten Title.

Anything can happen. Iowa has shown maturity and resilience this season and the deep run in the NIT last year is the reason. They should be focused and energized by the Michigan and Sparty losses today. This has been a really fun B1G season , maybe the best I can remember in terms of competition and balance. One for the books. No matter what happens, we have a team to be proud of!

Getting BIG Championship Banner and what ever league gives each player will mean more and be remembered longer by all.No one remembers who was in the final four.

Nobody talks about Iowa's '79 conference title, except right now (for obvious reasons). They talk about what Iowa did one year later. Because conference titles are overrated in the context of history. The Final Four is a bigger deal, and it's not even close.

Just keep winning. Damn tough to do in the B1G.

It is a cool feeling to know making the dance is a lock and now its seeding and champ talk.....oh how far we've come!

Go hawks.

That MSU team Iowa will play in 2 weeks will be much different than the MSU team Huskers played today. Dawson will be back and MSU will be at full strength.

If it is for the B10 Championship who cares? I think everyone understands MSU at full strength is a handful. One of the best teams in the country for sure. However, I think we also know when the Hawks are playing their A game they can compete with anyone. I just hope they put themselves in position to make that game be very important!

Sorry I'm not trying to be a jerk about it. I know you are just saying MSU is a damn good team, but I get tired of people acting like they are from another planet.

The cool thing here is that the Hawks have played their way in to this position. It's freakin exciting. I'm gonna enjoy it instead of worrying about what another team may or may not have.

I agree but Iowa lost at HOME to an injured MSU team. Iowa hasn't won in East Lansing since 1993 and those loses were by an average of 18.3 points.
