Iowa remains #4 in playoff rankings (NM)

The one guy said he thinks the Big 10 winner will stay the 4 seed. That would be a complete joke if MSU were to win. They deserve to be the top ranked 1 loss team for sure.

Just curious is Ohio State and Michigan State close behind sniffing our pie hole??

Whar Notre Dame? Whar Oklahoma State? Whar LSU? Whar Georgia? Whar TCU? Whar Baylor? Where Ole Miss? Oh where oh where has our favored sons gone, oh where oh where have they gone???

Iowa's resume is better than osu resume if we lose to msu....wonder how that debate would go ? Planning on the win and playoff birth but think for a moment a close loss to msu. Isn't our case better than stanford? Common opponent in NW. Why is Stanford even in the discussion?

This is a de facto playoff game...The committee will have already seen how Iowa V MSU has played out. They will not give us a second chance for a rematch with the team that just beat us. Our fate with moving forward is with a win vs MSU only. Unfortunately, the same doesn't hold true for OSU, as they will possibly give them the redemption opportunity if 'bama or Clemson falters.

Yet, the same logic holds that they would more than likely be willing to give OSU a second chance to beat a team that beat them a week ago...

i.e. if OSU and MSU both somehow get into the Playoff

If Iowa wins and Clemson loses, Iowa will be only undefeated team left. Since our SOS will significantly increase, any chance of #1? I give it about 20% chance.

No way. Iowa is not a blue blood traditional powerhouse program, therefore it's unthinkable that they would be #1. Iowa could unquestionably have the best resume in college football and the powers that be STILL would not rank Iowa #1 if a plausible argument for placing an OU, Alabama, OSU, etc. ahead of Iowa existed.

People just need to accept that ESPN Analysts, CFP committees, etc...are NOT in the business of fairness. They are in the business of the brand name teams getting more powerful at the expense of weaker programs.

This explains why college basketball analysts love upsets. Everyone tunes in to watch George Mason go on a Final Four run. Everyone tunes in to watch UNI beat Kansas. It drives their ratings through the roof. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, tunes in to watch a resurgent North Carolina team (at least the casual fan doesn't). It HURTS their ratings when weaker programs make a statement. And that's really all they care about.

It's ****ed up, but wealth creates wealth in college football. That's why sorry programs like ISU just don't have a chance to compete. That's why it's so incredibly unbelievable that KF has THIS TEAM in THIS POSITION at THIS POINT in the season. It transcends everything that's been ingrained into these people's heads.

Ha ha. U know Bama will be 1.
Okie Stoops 2

If Clemson loses and we win then we will be either #1 or #2. How in the hell could a team that lost to hapless Texas be rated above a 13-0 Big Ten team? That ain't happening.

Hoping to see both happening, a Iowa win with a Clemson loss. Go Hawks!!!!!!! Just win!!

If Bama and Clemson both lose and we win then we just might be playing the Buckeyes after all.

Although highly unlikely that both Alabama and Clemson lose, if it did happen we would see #1 Iowa vrs #4 North Carolina And #3 Ohio State vrs #2 Oklahoma.

Depends on the optics (eye-test). If chaos rules and Iowa steamrolls MSU, coupled w/ a decisive Stanford win, we would likely see Stanford pass Ohio State as they would be a conference champion with a much better SOS.

Iowa winning a heart stopper over MSU and a Stanford loss would allow Ohio State into the final 4. Essentially a second B!G championship game would be the result.

The murkiest scenario would be a close Iowa win over MSU coupled with a close Stanford win. Still think Stanford would leap past the Buckeyes because they would have the same number of wins and Stanford would have a conference championship.

Gotta love being 12-0 and having these kinds of conversations!
