Iowa recruiting tailgate this weekend -

Just read in a Morehouse article that two Illinois recruits will be in attendance.

3* DE Romeo Mcknight
3* LB Nick Niemann (brother of Ben)

Scout has Nick Niemann's Iowa status listed as "warmer" and he has several legit offers including Wisconsin. Would be great to get a commitment from him this weekend.

Also in attendance will be 2* Texas RB Tyler Tutt with offers from Boise State and Air Force, and Maryland WR Devonte Young who currently has offers from Pitt and Rutgers.

benddontbreak (i think) alluded to a possible commit this weekend - premium information - defensive player - well, one would assume this person would be at the tailgate......no??

I see on 247 he does have a bunch of MAC offers. 247 also lists him as the #25 player in the country at his position and 10th best player in Illinois. Those are some decent ratings for a guy with MAC offers and you'd think there'd be more D1 schools in on the 10th best player in Illinois.

We are most likely going to beat out Indiana and Michigan for Toks today (an awesome running back)

Man I hope you are right, he would be a great fit. I know it is just a highlight tape, but man o man he has big play after big play from his Jr year film.

Illinois is a dying state and the HS talent has been vastly overrated for several years. There are only a couple of studs per year, a handful of decent D-1 talent level guys and then a bunch of MAC caliber players. 10th seems about right for the cutoff where MAC interest sets in. Heck, there are guys out in the more rural parts of the state who wind up at Illinois or Iowa who are usually better than the higher ranked guys from Chicagoland who get more publicity. E.g., Sean Considine. I think Tolzien from Wisconsin was also a 2 star from Illinois. Point is, there is some talent, but I ain't counting on the recruiting gurus to find it other than the can't miss guys like Bulaga or Rashard Mendenhall. The only issue is whether Ferentz can still find the magic among the leftovers and he sure hasn't looked good on that front in the past few years.
