Iowa RB's mic'd up!

I'm not one of those guys who gets more and more optimistic as the season gets closer, but this year I am. It really seams like the holes in the roster are filling in and our running game is going to be as good as we've ever had under Kirk... as long as everyone stays healthy.

The key is for our offense and defense to adapt. We have some glaring holes. QB, WR, and until I see it done well, pass blocking. So I hope BF schemes to get our RB and TE the ball in space. However that works. Draws, Screens, Rollouts, Jet Sweeps...etc Not walking up to a stacked line and calling an audible only to see the opposing team LB point to the spot where the ball will go.

On defense, we have inexperience at DT, CB, S I feel more comfortable with the younger guys on DL as we produce well at that position, even from younger guys. The backfield is going to see some growing pains. If we can get offenses into obvious passing downs, it'd be great to see more blitzs and even bring in AJ to rush the passer. We haven't had a strong pass rush since 2010. Ott was looking like that guy until he got hurt

If we can split with TOSU and PSU - Iowa will win 9 or 10 games. 2015 was a season were all of Iowa's key games against division rivals were on the road, much like this season. It didn't matter that year - it won't this year either if they are any good. Can't lose to ISU.

This implies there is no depth, and I think that's false. It also implies that our opponents will be injury-free thruout the season, which is also false.

No offense to Toks and Young but I highly doubt they are capable of making our running game "the best Kirk has ever had. No idea what other team's injuries have to do with our "best ever " running game either.

Iowa has depth - but I think that getting the healthy breaks matter more at a developmental program like Iowa then most. Nice thing is we play in a division where we can compete irregardless because NU doesn't recruit like they used to (though it's been on the up swing, just not sold on their skipper and while their last 2 classes have been good, barely any of them will see the field THIS season) and Wisci is developmental much like Iowa. It's the games against PSU and TOSU that I think make or break this season from being good to bad. Lose them both and who knows, split, and I can see a nice year. Iowa is capable of getting one or both of those teams in Kinnick

I agree. But Josh's post made absolutely no sense in relation to mine. Surprise surprise.
