Iowa @ Purdue prediction thread

Its easy to forget just how good Purdue is, especially at home. We have no answer for Johnson and I think Purdue wins easy

Purdue 71
Iowa 54

Will Basabe guard Johnson? If so, he will need to host a block party for us to have a shot.

I'm anxious about this one. I want to see what we can do against a really good team on the road. We've proven we can compete at Carver but for me to really feel like they are improving you have to compete on the road.

We have to play strong d and we have to guard the perimeter. We won't score much so we must keep Purdue from scoring.

I wish i could see the hawks having shot. Purdue 82-66.

This team is fighting like crazy but today is a very tough task in a hostile environment.

Stay positive Hawkeye fans, hope the Hawks put a scare into them but this could get ugly, good news is that Purdue will not be as strong next year, does Hummel come back next yr? Purdue 76=Hawkeyes 52 hope im wrong,

I'll give the outsider's opinion:

Iowa will have a hard time keeping up in this one. I think the spread is pretty close. I'll go

Purdue 75
Iowa 59

For Iowa to have a shot, they need big games out of May and Cartwright, IMO. I also think Basabe struggles today and shows that he's still a freshman. (No knock on him, though, he's a good one.)

I think that the game's outcome depends a lot on how the refs call the game. If they let Purdue get away with the hands on, push, shove, and grab defense they fancy, it could get ugly. If the game is called correctly, I think we can at least stay in the game. I am going to say 74-64 Boilermakers.

I could see us getting blown out being on the road and all, but I like our chances of at least being competetive in this one.

That said, I think Purdue wins a game that is closer than the final score indicates:

Purdue - 77
Iowa - 64

Agree we don't have the horses to pull his one out, but Fran is well versed with Matt Painter and the Boilers....look for him to put together a nice game plan to make this baby interesting.

Purdue 76
Iowa 72

It's a cliffhanger (surprisingly to the national pundits)

I hate to be this way but as long as Fran has to rely on Brommer,Cole and Archie to be starters it will continue to be struggle. They just don't have the skills.Effort can only get you so far and Purdue is too techinically proficient which Iowa is not .

Agree totally. It's all about recruiting. We NEED to upgrade our level of talent. We have a few nice pieces, but Gatens and Basabe and can't do it all.

Really Mel is the only upper level B10 player on the team right now. Matt, Eric,Zach,Bryce,Dev etc. are the role players that fill in the team. Two more top level guys are what it takes to be in the top 3. Matt really needs th go to guys to get him some open space to work with.
