as i watch the kirk ferentz show on BTN and names like Devries, Weigman, klug come up....coupled with jordan berstines well spoken senior spotlight it is time to remind everyone that the Iowa program is not only about wins and losses but about running a good program and producing quality young boys into men. we have a top notch guy at the helm. i hate losing just as much as anyone but i would never trade ferentz for someone that acts like mike stoops on the sidelines. after all iowa turns so many kids into the NFL, but more importantly many more into the world! GO HAWKS!!

If as a Hawkeye fan you don't think Kirk Ferentz is one of the best people to run a football program, and one of the most world class guys in football, you're an idiot.

I guess I sort of disagree. He's maybe one of the more successful guys who fit that description, but I think that most coaches are more like Ferentz. It's just the negative stuff that gets far more attention. It's not like Ferentz is above and beyond most coaches, IMO.

Well, that's like your opinion man.
I get that you are a journalist and I commend you on your efforts to remain objective but lumping Ferentz in with "most coaches" is a disservice to him. If that were the case I don't think we'd had nearly as many individuals (both football and regular joe types) going on record stating just the opposite.
what this program does and has accomplished with good 'ol midwestern boys is amazing. the odds of consistantly pulling speed from FL or TX is nearly impossible with all of the opportunities those kids have to stay in their own states. most of those kids we dont want up here if they arent quality young men respenting hawk nation. i sunday QB along with everyone else, but at the end of the day I'll take a 9-3....10-2 season topped with a bowl win every single football season knowing KF is at the helm!
KF is as classy and professional as you will find. Today he took time out of what I'm sure is a jam packed schedule to attend a funeral and pay respects to a great man and great Hawkeye contributor both academically and athletically. I saw him there in person with his wife, Gary Barta also attended. Kirk even went to the burial in the 45 degree temperature with 25+mph winds. That speaks to his character big time and it meant a lot to me. I'm proud to have Kirk as our coach as I know he will always do things the right way. And when you do things the right way, good things will happen.

I think we all agree Kirk is about as classy as it comes when you mention coaches. And I am always impressed when I listen to our players speak. They are well spoken and grounded individuals (of course you always have your exceptions). I am very happy with Kirk as our coach. That being said, we (as fans) are still going to question decisions, etc. That is just the nature of being a fan. And for Kirk, taking heat sometimes has to come with the territory. I think the majority of fans are huge supporters of Kirk.
