How common is it for a coaching staff to contain a couple of former players?

Do you spend more time in the program than KF does? Why do you think you know better than the CEO? If you were the coach then you would be the coach.

Rarely does the CEO actually put in a complete effort to find the best available person because of pompus and conceded attitudes such as displayed by yourself.
It is almost always what is in the best interest of the CEO and not necessarily the "business".

Jesus. If his last name was different People would be jizzing their shorts that we got the TE coach of the second place super bowl team on staff.

This is a great hire.

Tom Moore as OC would be tremendous.

For all the complaining about KF's refusal to change the staff is going to look very different next year.

I wouldnt have like Brian Ferentz as a jump to OC but as o-line coach this could be and probably will be a masterful hire. I think his work for the Pats has probably shown he can coach and he knows o-line play. I think his background and connection to his Dad as a great developer of 0-line talent will make Brian an super recruiter who can sell Iowa.

Woods seems to be just an outstanding person. Anyone who played lbkr in college and pros will have instant credibility on the recruiting circuit. And KF may have seen enough of Woods coaching ability in the few weeks leading up to the bowl game to know he has a great one.

Just so we are clear: Larchwood is a suburb of Rock Rapids. The Rock has a population of 2300 and is the county seat of Lyon County. But, hey, I still think L Woods is a GREAT hire...same for Brian.

My point is if it's going to be Soup then let it be Soup. Do we have to wait three weeks to find out? I wish his son nothing but the best and I hope Parker works out and has a few new tricks up his sleeve for the defense. I hope the recruiting picks up with some of the energy that a younger coach brings to the team. Would like to see that 4-4 trend in conference play tick up to 6-2. Is that too much to ask for one of the highest paid coaches in college football? Hey been following the cubbies for forty-five years and we all know how that's worked out. Don't want to see that in the Iowa football program........pleeeeeeeese!!!!!!!!!! Never will forget watching from the stands as Iowa"s defense absolutely control the UCLA offense with Tippett leading the way. Oh to see that type of Dee again.

The 2009 defense was exactly like that. They were nearly as bad *** as the "81 group". Although, I was there in '81 and those guys were flat out nasty and they certainly hold a special place in my heart. They turned the tide on 20 years of futility.

I am not sure how we got more loyal with these moves than we were before. That would infer there was room to get more loyalty than he had on the staff with Parker and KOK. Is there a reason to think KOK was less loyal to the team than he could have been?

i would say the loyalty is about coach kaz. the comments he has made since leaving makes one think he was the most dedicated to the iowa brand even when he was here.
