Iowa offers JUCO PG?

I have been reading, and Rivals now shows, that Iowa has offered JC point guard Daylen Robinson. Other BCS offers are Nebraska and Texas Tech, along with a slew of mid-major type offers. Could he have been the "mystery visit" last Friday?

Daylen Robinson - Yahoo! Sports

Iowa may be being cautious with Robinson, because he has a bit of a checkered past.

Kansas City's Varsity Sports

Last year as a freshman at Moberly Community College, Robinson averaged 16 ppg, 6 apg, 3.5 rpg, and 1.5 spg. Shooting percentages were 41% from the field, 33% from beyond the arc, and 71% from the FT line.

I'm wondering why nobody has spilled the beans yet. Is the guy committed to another program and wants to keep the visit quiet? Is he a transfer?

“It’s really nothing I can do for real to show them. I’m showing myself. I’m going to be successful because I want to be successful.”

Good mindset to live by.

So is getting shot multiple times like he has. Anthony Hubbard spewed the same crap. That said, I am out of IC now so bring in all the felons Iowa needs to be successful.

It would be nice to open up the KC area for future recruiting efforts.

I heard about this guy before he went to JC. Honesty he has a great story and I hope he can get his life turned around.

getting shot is a felony?

Every situation is different and every kid is different and should be assessed on their own. If Fran trusts this kid enough to offer him, then I am fine with him coming. Would be nice to have some help for Gesell at pg next year.

Let's not pretend law abiding citizens get shot at with regularity. Random acts of violence do happen, but you are insane to think this man was simply unlucky.

If Fran wants him, great, I hope Iowa lands him, but don't pretend he was randomly shot at in multiple instances, due to bad luck.

You ever been in the inner-city? Innocents get shot, and killed with regularity in Chicago. Very sad really.

The article I read on him was about 2 years ago, but he wasn't randomly caught in the crossfire. He absolutely admitted that he put himself in bad situations. He was using his basketball ability to get himself out of those situations though and I commend him for it.

I don't know if he's the right fit for Iowa but I'm rooting for him.

people also dont usually get shot 5 times with dying, so who are we to pass up on an immortal backup PG?

I guess I am waving the white flag here, but give me a less talented guy that isn't going to be an academic or legal liability. We went through this crap with Tucker-failed. Went through it again with Anthony "This is my dream come true" Hubbard-failed. I have been critical of in state talent, but Iowa kids get the work done in the classroom. Crimminy, I think Gessel, Woodbury and Abrahamson are 4.0 or close. In re-reading my post, maybe we need to avoid players named Anthony.

I was a huge Hubbard supporter and he crapped on me. Won't make that mistake again.
I heartily endorse your post.

Every kid is an individual, and it is not fair to paint any kid from tough circumstances with a broad brush. Hubbard did not get in trouble,he just left. I still trust Fran.

I still don't understand how people don't get this correct. Hubbard was told to leave, and this kid was a gangbanger. Look, I trust Fran evaluating talent as well, but it would be nice to avoid this type of player with the Hubbard incident being so recent.
