Iowa offers 2012 Class QB...a Juco

Does anyone have a 40 time? Could LB be a possibility, he has the size to play outside in the 4-3? As thin as we are at LB (or have been), it crossed my mind that we are recruiting him to play another position.

Whether you are being serious or not...

It makes sense to have at least two quarterbacks on your roster, right? ;)

After the 2012 season, as of right now, Jake Rudock is the lone scholarship quarterback on the roster.

It makes sense to have at least 2 quarterbacks on your roster but to go out and get a juco qb makes less sense unless you need someone that could be ready to play sooner rather than later.

does this mean we take 2 QB's this year, a juco with 3 years and a HS kid to RS,
even if we take a HS kid this year and next we would 3 QB's not 2

We need immediate depth. Going JUCO makes a ton of sense here. We don't have any QB commits at this point in the incomming freshman class. Even if we sign a QB or two in next years class that would mean Jake is being backed up by a couple of true frosh, not an ideal situation.

Could be that Kirk plans on going after a big name qb in the next class after not getting one in this class. Sokol would only have 2 years of eligibility (3 to play 2)
That way the qb depth chart wouldn't look as deep to potential recruits. Plus, having an experienced backup to Rudock is better than 2 young guys battling it out. A more experienced guy could challenge Rudock.

This would be ideal. Would provide important depth and not scare anyone off. Glad coaches are thoughtfully going outside the box.

This means they don't have confidence in Ruddock.

We could have Tom Brady starting for the Hawks in 2013, we still need a viable back up. Could be that Ferentz sees this guy as a better qb than any of the high school prospects we're pursuing. He's stated that their plan is to take 1 qb every year.

The people who think this is a reflection on Ruddock are just plain idiots. But, for those of you who disagree could you please tell me who will be the back-up QB in 2013, when it looks like Iowa is going O-for with HS QBs in this recruiting class?
