Well they're winning the close games so far this year, and they are winning them specifically because of aggressive offensive strategy. So the representative sample may, knock on wood, be outdated.
Hard to define a close game. I would argue that any game in which the game is within 8 points at some point in the 4th quarter is a close game. I think the overall analysis is a little flawed. One thing I know: Iowa under Ferentz has played in a ton of close games and that trend will continue so long as Ferentz is the coach
We see so many close games because we leave so many points on the field against inferior teams. You let any team stay within a score and they can shock you.
I will give Kirk credit that we lost plenty of close games we should of been blown out in also, but a loss is a loss.
