Didnt they lose to MSU last year? If they did that is probably why its a must win, and since UCONN beat ND last year maybe that is why it is the other must win. I think if he could find away to beat OSU that would revitalize his future/career with Michigan.

Seems to me that iowa is not a must win because the writer believes Michigan will be underdogs and not expected to beat a Top 15 team.

UConn is a must-win because it's the opener, and another season opening loss like 07 and 08 would create insurmountable turmoil in an already divided fanbase.

MSU is a must-win because they've taken the upper hand in the state the last few years, and UM needs to win to begin to take it back.

Iowa is not a must-win. Nobody expects Michigan to go undefeated, and Iowa is one of those games that nobody would really fault him for losing.
