Iowa Needs Breaks From State

I disagree with this completely. I watched the Pitt/PSU game today and that was a great entry into a historic rivalry. One that has not taken place in far to long. Rivalries are the lifeblood of college football. Dispite everyone's attempt to kill them off.

I actually wish ISU would get their shit together and make this a meaningful game. Instead of a lose/lose situation for the Hawks like it is now.
I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you there. I like it when it's a beat down.

I personally like it. Tonight was very relaxed, drinking and fun'n around. My wife hates it. "Cause the game is boring". My wife doesn't realize the years taken off my life due to Iowa football.

All that being said, Iowa gains nothing for beating a sorry ISU team and I wish they were better.

Just relating what Hayden said. I leave it to the"experts" to tell us when and how the coaches are wrong...

He did say it. In theory it makes sense. I do remember at the time the correlation between injuries in weak competition. My sons were multiple sport athletes. Do know they were injured more in blowouts in which their teams won. They had more injuries in those games. They slacked off while the other teams got chippy. It wasn't just my kids.

Fry had a psychology degree. Wouldn't surprise me if he said it to avoid having to say, "I really want wins and wins get us to higher bowl games, so we schedule cupcakes." He also said something to the effect that he considered quitting coaching football which I think was at the height of his tenure at Iowa because of the injuries and had bad he felt about it. I doubt he was serious but was making a point.

No Iowa doesn't need a break from Iowa State. I guess too many people forget when the series wasn't played. I remember 1977 when it was renewed and what a big deal it was. It's not our fault that ISU can't be a consistent winning program. Unlike most other programs, their rivalry games are built within their conference schedule. Look at the cupcakes that all the other schools were playing this weekend.

My assumption is the Iowa government, the media, and both schools love the revenue they receive from the Iowa vs Iowa State game and will put the pressure down to never let it end

Hell they made it a trophy game and tied it to the corn growers so it's not ending anytime soon
