Iowa-MSU Two Deeps

I certainly hope Scherff, Ferentz, and Gettis are ready to play Saturday. Two of the best DT in the big ten coming to town. And they are big...look to see a bunch of bull rushes this week.

TE: Fiedorowicz, Derby/Herman

I definately missed the story/details surrounding this change, besides noticing Fiedorowicz making some good grabs lately...

Hopefully MacMillan can come back. However, as much as 35% of the people with his injury never return to competitive athletics.

But, if he does, he will make a nice combo with Scherff. Plus the fact that it looks like Reiff could still use some work, might mean the Hawks have a monster line coming back next year.

Was thinking that they were replacing three starters. Could in all practicality only be one.

Catching the ball probably had something to do with it. However, I would guess it has more to do with CJF's blocking. He was destroying people on Saturday. He had one play on the Hawk's last TD drive where he drove his man 10 yards. I am not sure if the defensive player could have moved backwards any more rapidly had he just turned and sprinted away from CJF.

CJ really has turned up his blocking, but Herman definitely played his way out of the starting position

You can't pick and choose when it's "Parker ball". He's the DC in all four quarters. Yes, they probably should have used more "man" late in the fourth quarter but he put together that defensive scheme that stopped one of the more prolific offenses in the country.
Much like last year. The offense failed to do anything with the ball in the 4th quarter causing the defense to be out there without much rest.

Go watch Coker's 2nd TD run. The 13 yarder. CJ sealed and took out 2 dudes. He was blocking his *** off all game.

So true about the offense not moving the ball. I think our defense could not have played much better, given the situations and players in the game. Our offense has got to sustain drives in the fourth quarter. I will never be able to figure out why when the hawks do something that works they go away from it. For instance the pitch play, has a team stopped that play for less than 5 yards yet? The out the Mc Nutt or Davis. Michigans corners were so far off the WR's we could have ran that all day. I am sick and tired of the play not to lose mentallity of KF in close games. He seems to be extremely thick headed. 5 years ago he hardly ever played freshmen, now look at how many are contributing, and look at how the recruiting is going.

scherff getting the nod. has anyone kept an eye on him as he's been in there? Has he done well? are we better off with him in there?

scherff has a heck of a lot of potential. i think he gets the nod over tobin on talent alone, tobin may be a more "experienced" player though.

Where is McCall? KF said he'd get playing time the last two weeks, but nothing. Ya I understand coker is doing a great job. But seriously give McCall a chance, and Coker a rest at times so he can run even harder.

McCall may not be 100% ready yet. And why risk it if we don't have to? I do agree that it would be nice to get a 2nd back more involved, but the coaches are the ones at practice everyday, not us.

White has been on backup rb on 2 deeps for a while. If McCall is healthy he will be first back off the bench.
