Iowa missed Robinson in redzone

Clearly. He is the MVP of this team, along with Stanzi. I think it comes down to a trust issue down there. Also, not having Gettis or MacMillan at RG was a factor today.
 
We ran the ball between the 20s just fine, but we rarely tried inside the red zone. Rotate Coker, Rogers, and even Morse if need be, but we really abandoned the running game today, especially in the 2nd half.
 
whats make you think a 6' 230 pound RB cant punch it in just like Robinson can?
 
I think ARob would have been nice but I do not think it would have mattered in the redzone. The problem was penalties and overthrowing receivers in the redzone IMO.
 
I really think it comes down to trust. If not, KOK just puked all over himself repeatedly. That hasn't been what I have seen this year. Coker runs the ball so upright at this point of his career. Things are more crowded down there in the redzone. I dont know, I may be wrong, I just think ARob's value was on display in the RZ today, because they have been scoring TD's down there all year, and ARob has 10 rushing TD in 8 games, same as Greene had through 8 in 2008
 
That first possession it was first and goal at the nine and thats when we should have ran three times for cokers first score!!
 
I think after the first two times inside the 10 that KOK would have trusted Ricky enough to put him in the shotgun and throw the ball. Got to mix things up a bit and with the advantage Iowa's WR had on the DB's today I don't see why they were not lit up. Fade route was ugly today, no slants until the 2 point conversion and the TE was damn near invisible today.
 
missability is some of it. A-Rob gets contact, but his spin moves and footwork are amazing. he just gets it in the endzone. I texted my body during the game that we missed him bigtime in the red zone.

Totally agree, I was looking for Mcnutt in the red zone all day, or a quick throw to any receiver and get 5-6 yards!

This is a great point. Where were the Iowa TE's today?

Anyone who has the stats can you post their catches and yards plz.

I agree it was a trust factor, but the problem is KOK trusted Coker in between the 20's, I think they didn't want to loose the football on a turnover and were satisfied with taking 3 points. My argument is if your not going to trust him in the redzone at least run a play action to make Defense try to stop the run first.

Been asking myself and others the same exact question..... Seemed like we didn't take advantage of "safe" shorter yardage throws...
 
Jon I typically don't give the coaches too much guff, but I believe you're "puked all over himself" comment above hit the nail on the head. We called a very bad game in the Red Zone. VERY BAD
We also didn't seem to have any rhyme or reason for some of the early Redzone calls. How about having a delay of game, off sides, call a timeout and then throw alittle 4 yard pass to our FB........Don't get it.
The good news is we got a W and now have to get ready to play much better. I think the weakness at RG actually had much bigger impact in the REDZONE than we appreciate.

Jon tweeted TE's only caught one pass today. That's hard to believe. TE's are usually at least 1/3 of who the passes go to
 
I just think there may be days where stuff gets in your head and you get brain lock...it just felt a bit like that today
 
Coker hasn't been putting the football on the turf, so I think you have to trust him when it counts inside the red zone. Let the kid make a play.
