Another great October day with a great crowd. Watched from the North End Zone club section and was a great place to watch a game. Tired of bleachers
I agree with most of this but I do want part of Indy. Yes it would probably be extremely ugly and embarrassing but to play for the championship would be fun. At least until about halfway through the first quarter. Oh well. I will be watching every Saturday and cheering them on. I don’t know what to hope for in terms of the Ferentzes. On one hand this offense is historically bad. On the other hand if you lose/get rid of Kirk who knows how things will play out. Does anyone believe that if Brian goes that Kirk will stay? Even if Kirk stays will the offense be better no matter who replaces Brian? If Kirk goes can we convince Phil to stay? Would Phil take the head job? Woods? Who knows?Another great October day with a great crowd. Watched from the North End Zone club section and was a great place to watch a game. Tired of bleachers
Takeaways
No more calling Iowa football complementary Its good Defense great Special teams and unbelievably HORRIBLE offense. Nothing complementary about that
Stop the DNA stuff Although DNA is used in criminal cases and Iowa's Offense is certainly a crime
D Hill is NOT a QB. He has no QB skills except he can throw it a long ways. Unfortunately QB is a lot like the game of golf (distance and direction) He can not be the best QB we have on scholarship????
As much as I hate to see Iowa lose maybe it is for the best. Very Very unlikely we win our remaining games and even more unlikely Ferentz will change anything. Pretty much seals the fate of BF and hopefully OL coach and maybe pushes KF to call it quits before he ruins a good Iowa run!
We don't want any part of Indy
Any bowl we play in will likely be seen by wives of coaches and players parents
I think seeing Iowa football move on is a risk a lot of us are willing to take.I agree with most of this but I do want part of Indy. That’s completely understandable. I go back and forth on that. I’m more ready today than I was yesterday at this time.I think seeing Iowa football move on is a risk a lot of us are willing to take.
That was a bad Minnesota Football Team on Saturday, abetted by an even worse Iowa offensive effort, 22 points between them. If Kirk and company think Hill will improve I can't see how. After 3 games nothing is better statistically for Hill or the offense. Utah brings in a backup for their injured QB that beats Southern California in Los Angeles. To my way of thinking both Labas and Lainz(sp) deserve a chance to play and free to run some running plays. If they fail then they should hit the portal and go to a level appropriate for them.
You might as well find out now whether than wait to find where Iowa was with Petris.
I don't think Iowa has to worry about anyone poaching Iowa QB's. Iowa's OC will make sure that won't happen with his success rate as a coordinator. I'm turning Iowa's offensive woes over to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes. Maybe he can fix things.I think you want to keep those guys on ice so that Cade and Deacon don't transfer out and you don't want the competition to see them. Last thing you want to see is Labas go out there and throw for 400 yards and 5TDs while adding another 100 on the ground and then Alabama showing up and offering him $5 million for next season. No one wins in that scenario.
Let's face it, the focus on the DeJean call represents a massive amount of misplaced anger and frustration derived from what the true issue is - arguably the most inept offense major college football has seen in the last 50 years.
What we are witnessing on offense isn't just bad, it's STAGGERINGLY BAD. This game was lost for one reason and one reason only - our coaching staff's inability to scheme, prepare and execute even a semblance of an effective offensive system. The players on the field look lost and completely ill-prepared, and, in turn, the coaches look completely incapable of making effective adjustments on the fly.
It's hard to even know where to start. The offensive line play and coaching has been absolutely abysmal. Terrible fundamentals in terms of pad-level, footwork, hand placement, everything. It's a far, far, cry from the "bullies of the big ten" days. I don't know how Barnett collects a pay check without feeling ashamed and embarrassed.
Why is Patterson our RB choice for short yardage? He's a promising young athlete, but he has zero patience to allow for the blocks to set up. Having someone just take the snap and blindly run into the scrum is not the way a run-game should be coordinated.
Does anybody, ever, teach our QBs how to use their eyes to manipulate the defensive backfield? It's rare enough to see them work through progressions, but it would be like seeing a white whale to see one "look off" a safety. By the same token, where are the changes to the snap count and cadence? Minnesota knew exactly when the snap was coming on every down yesterday, whether it was timing the blitz or falling off into coverage. They knew exactly when to time it.
Lastly, has Brian ever heard of a hitch-and-go route? Their DBs were squatting and jumping the short routes all game, yet I don't recall a single time where there was a pump fake to even attempt to burn the corner for being aggressive. Even if it fails, you at least get the DB second-guessing the rest of the game. But, nothing. No common sense adjustments at all.
I genuinely feel bad for our defense and ST coaches and players. They deserve so much better.

Labas wins.
That must be why my wife married me. A red flag came to me when I heard Hill being interviewed after the Wisky game and he stated when he was in the portal he figured he'd end up going to a FCS or lower division. I think Iowa was the only p5 that gave him an offer. That was a bad Minnesota Football Team on Saturday, abetted by an even worse Iowa offensive effort, 22 points between them. They did that twice too with him. Later in the game they finally used Hill for it (the one thing he can do). But of all our options for a 3rd and 1 you put in the smallest RB who can't push the pile or fall forward to save his life in those situations. Just another blatant example of BFs incompetence as an OCLet's face it, the focus on the DeJean call represents a massive amount of misplaced anger and frustration derived from what the true issue is - arguably the most inept offense major college football has seen in the last 50 years.

Actually Iowa did just to nitpick that. I'd heard someone on TV say that but it wasn't true. What Iowa didn't do was run a play inside the red zone against them.Great summary.
I'll add to the misery, as I'm not sure I've read on this board a stat from last weeks Wisconsin game. I believe Iowa did NOT run one offensive play in Wisconsin territory the entire game.
