Iowa Men Gymnast make NCAA Finals

Someone should ask high school teams in Minnesota what they think about Spring Baseball. Our head coach has friends in Minnesota that are 4 weeks away from their State playoffs and have not played an inning this year due to weather.

I know he teaches privately, I was going more on the lines of "Gabby and Shawn have connections in the state of Iowa, maybe iowa is good for gymnastics."

A stretch, I know.

To be totally fair, Douglas isn't actually from Iowa, and she wasn't famous until this past summer. Honestly, it would have been nice if Johnson had enrolled at Iowa. THAT would have given the program a boost.

Iowa might be the only state that plays summer baseball, but I don't want them to change that. First of all, baseball is a SUMMER sport. And secondly, playing spring baseball eliminates track from an athlete's options in high school. Track is the single, most-important sport for any athlete to participate in, IMO. It can help you make huge improvements in other sports, particularly football, but it helps you in others, too. Hell, I went from never getting a single steal sign through three years of baseball to swiping 15 bases as a senior (to be fair, that was partly due to my getting on base more often as a senior, but that was also mostly because of my improved athleticism that I gained through track).

It might be boring to watch, and maybe you'd even find it boring to participate in. But no sport can do more for your athletic career than track.
