Iowa lands Transfer DE

Hillsdale . . . do I have to tell anyone here this is my favorite college after Iowa
:D

I've never even heard of this college, but I looked him up on their website. His 2018 stats were 70 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles.

Not a lot of fanfare, but having watched his film, I like it. Seems to be quick off the edge and is a playmaker.

Blair S mentioned he was the DE Transfer the staff was going after the hardest a couple weeks back so I had heard the name.

Boy if we could get Nixon on the team next year I don’t think Dline depth would be much of any concern.

It's interesting...you watch his film and you think he's probably 235 or 240...but if he's really 265, he moves really, really well for 265. He needs to get to Iowa City as soon as possible and he's another big DE for the rotation of AJ and Golston...and maybe Waggoner. I agree with the above poster...it would be great to have Nixon on the team with his size...and the fact that he knows the defense after spending a year in the program.

This is also good if we employ our 4 DE pass rushing package again this year. VanValkenburg can play on the inside on passing situations with his size and pass rushing ability.

That's where I heard it as well. I meant no fanfare in that we don't know how much attention he was receiving. All I've heard was "G5 and P5 teams".

This kid is the next Andre Tippett, Adrian Clayborn, or Kenny Iwebema. He's the athletic type. Not the blue collar, all-day motor type such as Matt Roth, Drew Ott, or Anthony Nelson.

Nice pickup ... and 2 years of eligibility. It was nice to have so much depth this year and looks good for the future.
