Iowa isn't good now, but HELP IS ON THE WAY!

Our new guys will bring us back to prominence in 2 years. Marble is getting better by the day and Basabe is starting to heat up. Oglesby is flashing and so is White. Iowa could be decent next year and a very good in 2. Be patient and quit ripping Fran and the players. Building a team from scratch takes more than two years, especially at Iowa. Suck it up and quit ********... It isn't helping.

I totally agree but that won't happen. Some fans think if a team hires a new coach they should be good right away.

I'm a Cubs fan and was amazed at how many people are upset about them not signing Pujols to a 10 year deal. Not everyone has common sense.

Pujols signing with the Angels was fantastic for me. Didn't want to pay that kind of money for that many years and he's out of the division

As far as Iowa is concerned, Marble is showing promise, I think Mel will get better, and there are some solid players coming in. Hopefully this will be the last year we have to suffer throw this level of mediocrity for a long long time.

I agree as well. Future looks good, they just need more time and players. This program was in bad bad shape. The good news is several players flash good things at times. Another good thing is that Fran has seemed to slow down and nearly eliminate the deflections, which is a big change from the former regime.
Dont get me wrong I am disappointed with the way they have played thus far but I will still watch every game. Time people, give them some more of it. This mess was not going to be fixed in one or two years. I do feel bad for Gatens though.

Did Cartwright get hurt tonight? ESPN box score says he only played 6 minutes. Is ESPN's box score just crap?

He came off the bench, went up and down the court a few times, could not move very well, turned the ball over and was taken out. He never played another minute after that.

Hamstring injury isnt healed yet. Hopefully some rest over the next week will help and he can play effectively against Drake. Although I do like what I have seen out of Marble the last two games.

Fans have endured 5 years of rebuilding and cynicism has taken root. We thought we had something with Kelly, Peterson, Fuller, etc., and that house of cards tumbled in short order. That was not McCaffrey's deal, but it's still Iowa basketball. My dad is a long suffering Cubs fan who firmly believes any player the Cubs acquire will stink and any player they trade will excel. I think many feel this way about Iowa hoops.

This. How many years have we heard help is on the way.

Tyler Smith... Peterson/Kelly/Cole...Gatens/Tucker/Fuller.. Larson/Brust/McCabe/Marble were all suppose to be our help on the way

And that list of players who came and then left is the reason the coach who recruited them was fired.

How is any of this Fran's fault. The only thing he has done is put a top 25 recruiting class together in year 2. Suck it it up and be patient!

Individual players are improving, we just aren't putting it together. Marble and Basabe have both strung good games together. Gatens is always solid. We really need Cartwright. He was a glue for Iowa last year, but he just hasn't been fully healthy yet. May needs to find a niche. He should focus on defense and his mid range game. I think we will see Iowa be a much different team as we go forward.

The future is very bright. This team only needs 2 things, a true Center, and a true Point Guard. With the incoming recruiting class this team will look completely different next year.

Only two? I would argue that. It is a good start but I think they need another 6'5 wing player who can create. Iowa has Marble who is showing some signs but it would be nice to get another wing with size/athleticism and a consistent offensive game.

This would be a completely different team if they had a Center and a True Point Guard, even this years team. They need another talented post player to take the attention off Basabe. McCabe, Brommer, and White just have not been getting the job done.

I think we should look at Indiana as a model for the future. If you look at Indiana who was awful the last couple of years and you see the type of recruits they got, it's very reassuring we can be back very soon.

White is a Freshman and a 4 year player that should and will improve each year
Why do idiots insist on writing off a player who is in his freshmen year after just 10 games,
Marble was written off and is now showing major progress in his 2nd year
Fran is getting 4 year players that will get better each year
he is not getting one and done players
to expect him to at this stage is ludicrous
