And I love it. Iowa has been underrated for 30 years and they still dont seem to understand that iowa football is or atleast has for the past 30 yrs been a top 40 program. I love this undercard type, so here is a bold prediction , iowa smokes wisc. nedt year and they use things like that to hype up the boys in black, all this stems from a post about wisc being rated higher than the iowa hawkeyes.

I'm not sure if anyone told you but you need to have 50 posts before you start drunk posting.

Ehhhh.... I don't want respect. I like having something to prove. Only people that want respect are fans and they want it so they can shoot their mouths off about their team.
The only thing worse to me then being a fan with your nose in the air is the fan crying about how they are treated by the media, other fans.

I think the Big Ten nationally gets very little respect, which transfers to Iowa by definition.

This year's bowl season might have thrown a wrench in the "no respect" works, however.

Many of the very early polls have 4 Big Ten teams in the top 16, so watch out next year. The cat might be out of the bag.

I agree Iowa gets plenty of respect, and Iowa plays much better when we have something too prove. So lets hope we start below everyone in the Big Ten race next year and beat them all each Saturday on win a Big Ten title and Rose Bowl next year.

Personally, I don't think we can worry about being a "top" program if we feel we can only "succeed" as an "under-the-radar" or "surprise" team. We need to perform as a "favorite-from-the-get-go" if we want the "respect" we perceive vis-a-vis Florida/Texas/USC/OSU.

Anybody can knock off OSU as a "surprise" or "superpower". We need to do it on an "equal footing" basis.

1983/1987/1991 victories over OSU were all "surprises" or "adversity" wins. 2004 we beat OSU in the midst of a "letdown" season for them.

We need to beat them when the stakes are big for BOTH teams AND there is no cloud of an injured QB or being the team to knock them out of a national title picture while we are still fighting for bowl position between Alamo or Outback.

Iowa State is the David Hasselhoff of college football.

Getting ranked in maybe the Top 25 pre-season, then finishing in the Top 7.

No, that isn't exactly being respected. It's called being Under-rated, as the original poster so correctly points out

No, it's called earning your respect. Do you seriously think Iowa should have been ranked #7 to start last year?

Disrespect is being a team good enough to be ranked #7 and being ranked #15 instead. Do you think Iowa should be ranked higher than #7? If so, then you have a reason be be upset. Personally, I feel Iowa's #7 ranking is exactly where they should be. They EARNED that ranking (it wasn't handed to them), and that is exactly what you should want.

Please, please, please stop with this cry-baby, vicitm mentality garbage! No one is disrespecting us! We proved it on the field, and we got everything we deserve, and nothing more!

I dont think you understand this post ghost, it is saying that we are under-rated(disrespected) when we continue to prove that iowa is a legit top 25 team unlike names like ND, Mich, who get the benefit of the doubt because of their name. Look at miami they win 3 games out of 4 to start the year and all of a sudden they are a top 10 team while iowa was 4-0 and barley cracked the top 25 because of a close game with uni and ark state. Then i go on to state how I like it becasue it gives the players more motivation to win. I am not whinning just telling the facts. And no one can dispute that. I hope some one tries.

Who cares about benefit of the doubt because of their name? Your name doesn't get you wins, your performance on the field does.

Are you seriously claiming that Iowa is disrespected because they were not ranked high enough week 4? Do you have any idea how lame that is? You know why we were not ranked high in week 4? Because we didn't deserve to be!

Let me ask you this: If Iowa were ranked, say, #15 in week 4, aand the rest of the season played out the exact same way, do you think we would have ended the season ranked higher? Let me also preface your answer by saying that if you believe the week 4 ranking had any impact on their final ranking, that, coupled with your OP, leads me to believe you are a problem drinker who needs immediate help.

Listen ghost you are trying to make this a personal thing, of course i cant dispute the end of the season ranking no one can, but that is not the issue. Its not lame it is the truth weather you want to see it or not. If you dont like the topic then stop reading this post and replying. And one more thing dont try to put me down because you dont agree there are plenty of people who feel the same about this topic and I dont drink, and i would not talk sheet I am a three time combat veteran and really dont like people who insult others. Top 40 program...yeah I'd say basically everyone would give us that. Top 40 really isn't anything impressive.
