Iowa is #15 in the new coaches poll

HawkeyeShane, what are you basing your 2 spot drop on? Here are the ranked teams that had a bye this week:

Arizona (went from 14th/14th to 9th/11th)
Utah (went from 13th/12th to 10th/10th)
Arkansas (went from 15th/15th to 11th/13th)
South Carolina (went from 20th/22nd to 19th/20th)
Missouri (went from 28th/23rd to 24th/22nd)

Every team improved at least 1 spot with the bye and most improved more than 1 spot.

Not basing it on anything, bhawk...I was saying it "tongue in cheek" since it seems Iowa never catches a break in the polls...I like your stats and if Iowa does happen to drop, it's going to pi$$ me off even more now!

The three one loss teams ahead of Iowa are all southern teams. Some biasedness here? I think so. A one loss Big Ten team can't be that good. Right?

Nice to see both scUM and MSUx undefeated, yet, ranked below Iowa.

The blue-bloods must be seething.

Don't forget that the SEC Coaches certainly want other SEC teams that they play to be highly ranked when they play them. With 14 teams, banding together to have a consensus #1 in the conf. and making sure the rest on their schedule are ranked in proper order to assure that upsets get big rises out of the other teams and normal wins also get a big rise in rankings, you get ranking inflation in that conference. Their rankings are self-sustaining.

You nailed it Cincyhawk. 100% correct.

Of course, the BCS poll is the only one that matters, and it comes out either next week or in two weeks. Either way, I can't help but think that with the Big 10/11 having more than half (6) of their teams ranked in the top 25 (coaches poll) at that point like today, (highly doubtful though) it would only help our SOS on the computers. If we win our games, we will move up. NC shot? not likely, but still possible.

I'm not sure if this has been stated or not... but didn't we beat Penn State with the same exact score that Alabama did?

Maybe that is meaningless to some people, but we could have scored quite a bit more and we played just as well against Penn State as Bama did.

I feel like we should get more credit than we are getting. I feel like there are 1 loss teams that are ranked ahead of us that definitely do not deserve to be.

Just my opinion though.

Prob. about where we should be. Its going to be tough to pass Miami with there week schedule. Hope they lose Sat. or they may run table.

If we take care of business I am not too worried... We went to a BCS bowl last year with 2 losses... everyone needs to chill and enjoy this team.

Well, one of them will be jumping Iowa when the next rankings come out.

Completely agree, Michigan wins...they are ahead of Iowa 1 spot or 2. If MSU wins they leap over Iowa 2-3 spots.. Iowa may actually drop to allow MSU into the top 15.

We need to face it there is some kind of bias against the Hawks. Some of these moves up and down by teams are really strange.

Exactly, people just need to forgot about the rankings, if Iowa runs the table in the Big Ten and doesn't make the NC the consolation prize is a Rose Bowl bid and that isn't a bad consolation prize.

If Iowa can't get into the NC and I give it about a 5% chance of happening, I would like to see Oregon and Alabama (OSU won't make it as Iowa would have beaten them) for the NC and then have Iowa go beat the crap out of Boise in the Rose Bowl. So other than going to the NC the rankings don't mean anything because the Hawks control their own destiny as far as the Big Ten title goes and rankings won't have anything to do with winning the Big Ten. Plus the Big Ten champ will be ranked in the top 5 come the end of November.
