Iowa is 14-10 the past 2 seasons with all this NFL talent...

3rd most players drafted into the NFL. Throw in a 1300 yard rusher, 2 of the best WRs in school history and 2 QBs with a 47/11 TD-INT ration and over 5600 yards passing.

Something doesn't add up correctly. That screams wasted talent on mediocrity.

Wow, I never realized those numbers. It seems to me we don't use the talent we have to their full potential cough * Ken O'Keefe * cough

name these teams:

Team #1:
15-10 last two years with a bowl loss, top ten preseason ranking this year

Team #2:
12-11 last two years with no bowl last year after starting the season in the top 5.

Can you name them?

Texas and Florida. Someone pays attention in Jon Miller Talking Points 101.

We play NFL type offense. Actually what would be a conservative NFL offense. This does not translate that well at the college level.

If we ever want to win a National Championship with this offense we'd better have 3-4 future NFL offensive lineman, an NFL tightend, an NFL running back, an NFL quarterback, 2 NFL WR's.

The closest we were to ever having this was the year we won the Orange Bowl. The missing parts were.... (2 NFL WR's and NFL Running Back). The chance of us ever putting it all together is very slim.

They can rebuild a lot quicker, recruit better athletes and actually make staff changes. Their ADs will also force changes if things aren't corrected. Florida is in a coaching transition. Also don't pay a coach $4 million/year based on market value 8 years ago, if so then Mac Brown, Urban Meyer, Les Miles and Nick Saban should be making $12 million/year.

Suddenly, I feel a lot better about Iowa's mediocre performances the past 2 seasons. I wonder if the fans of A&M and Florida are similarly comforted by Iowa's 15-10 overall/4-4 conference records the past 2 years.

in 5 of their 6 losses for a&m- they had double digit leads. guess it's not just Iowa who does not live up to expectations or that cannot close out games

Richt and Georgia started 0-2 after a couple of bad years (also made a QB change from a 3 year starter); stayed the course and i think have a real shot at beating LSU in the SEC championship game.

stay the course.

But i use the same ol' gas station by me, even though the coffee and service sucks. But it is sure conveniently placed right on my way to work.

Kirk is convenient and meets expectations considering the landscape of college football.

It was A&M and Texas, but Florida and Florida State fit that billing too. Throw in Arizona State, West Virginia, Mississippi State

A&M is going to fire Sherman. Texas has had major staff shake up, Florida, FSU and West Virginia all have new head coaches. Arizona State will have a new coach next year. Mississippi St hired a new coach three or four years ago. Yet Iowa will just keep things the same.

that could be an arguement against channge, no?

michigan? Kansas? Do you think Kansas State wished that Snyder never wallked away? Do you think Iowa State wish they never showed McCarney the door? what about Boston College and firing Jeff Jagodzinski for interviewing for the NY Jets job after 20-8 in two seasons at BC?

I could go on, and coaching changes certainly effect some less than others, but it would have a Kansas-like effect to our program.

The chances that a new coach will outperform Ferentz are highly unlikely. The chances that a new coach will grossly underperform considering the status of MSU, Michigan and Nebraska... highly likely.
