He has a long, long list of offers.

It would be nice to see Fran break through and get a couple of these players. With all the teams being Big East teams, I think it will be very difficult for Iowa to get this guy. Sounds like he wants to play in the Big East.

Maybe a long shot, but it's nice to see Iowa even on the list.. That's something I doubt we would have seen a couple years ago under the previous coach.

since when did Vandy and Virgina Tech move to the Big East?

This is another one of those really good Michigan kids that Iowa gets interest from very early, but with the way Iowa has been and the style of play until recently, get turned off.
Living in Michigan, I am surprised at how much support there is for Iowa out here, especially in the larger cities like Detroit and Flint.
With Fran's style of play and his attitude that he will find players anywhere that he gets back into one of Iowa's old recruiting grounds, there are some really good players that don't get a lot of notice that end up being pretty good. Hopefully, Clemmons is one example.
One kid I will be following this year in Michigan is Jackson Lamb, 6-7 PF...2013 kid, I have mentioned him before. He doesn't play a lot of AAU because he is the leadoff hitter for his HS baseball team, CF and a pitcher. They played in the state finals this year and I don't know if he played much, if any basketball this Summer.

I read an article a year or so ago in which they talked about the cities of Flint and Detroit. Because of the dreadful economic times in both cities many coaches have basically not been recruiting those cities hard because of how bad the schools are. Many of the kids can't get into schools like Iowa.

Also sorry about saying the kid was only looking at Big East schools. I should have said the kid is only looking at schools ON the east coast other than Iowa. When I read the article it sounded like he wants to stay near the East Coast and play. I'm glad there always those on the board that have to set people right and use bold print for emphasis.

If he is interested in Vanderbilt and it is mutual, then he would have the academics to get into Iowa. After all, they are the Harvard of the South. They have an excellent team this year, probably the chief challenger to Ky in the SEC.

I noticed that Hawkins played on the same AAU program,Mustangs 17u, as Anthony Clemmons.
Maybe Clemmons can help bring him to Iowa?
