Iowa Has Expressed Interest in Gabbert?

I don't think I want another programs hand me downs or a player that quits when he's not happy. Now if he's willing to play any position the coach wants and work his butt off, I'll accept him as a Hawkeye.

Has a similar build to Drew Tate. My question is why is he interested in Iowa? He left Mizzou for what appears to be a better chance to start, he already loses a year by transferring because he redshirted at Mizzou, he will be a RS Soph this fall. Assuming JVB holds the job in 12' he would be a senior before he got the chance to be mentioned as a possible starter.

Gabbertt would sit this year then next season - JVB's senior season - he would be a RS sophomore. So therefore, he would have a chance to start 2 years (beginning his RS junior season), depending if he beats out Ruddock, assuming that he is next to take the reigns.

Gotya, they must mean redshirt freshman is what he would be this fall. I thought he redshirted last year.

I dont really want a QB that doesnt want to compete for the #1 job.
Thats a position that needs leadership and I'm not sure a guy that transfers because he couldnt win the job, is worthy of being a leader.
Look at Stanzi. The coaches did everything possible to give the job to JC. Ricky worked harder and made the coaches pull the plug on JC.
I like how that turned out.
If Gabbert cant do the same thing at Mizzou, doesnt give me much confidence that he will win the job here.

He also is the same height/weight and has the same 40-time as Brad Banks. So the stature can be overemphasized. When a guy is an outstanding QB, the staff can find ways to make him successful. However, I don't think he is a good fit at Iowa. If Iowa takes him in, I'll support him, but I hope he picks a different school in the mean-time.

maybe its not a matter of gabbert not willing to compete for the #1 position as it is his brother telling him the hassles of what he went through leading up to the draft not coming out of a "pro-style" offense. Long story short, maybe big brother has offered some advice and lil brother is taking it, looking for a chance to sharpen his skills in an offense that better fits an nfl career......if there is to be one.
