Iowa H.S. Football prospects over the last ten years.

Seeing the French kid from CR in the Rose Bowl got me to thinking about how we lost out on him and the offensive lineman to Alabama in the last few years. I would be curious to see a list of the number one ranked Iowa high school football prospects over the last ten years, where they went and how they did in college.

Is that information easily accessible somewhere?

Haven't you listened to KF.. We only get 1, 2 and 3 star kids and develop them. It's Iowa Thawki..

Its not like there are three websites with easily accessible recruiting ratings broken down by state, college team, position....

Iowa has signed 27 of the 78 NR/ 2-Star Iowa HS players (35%), ISU 40 (58%), Others 6 (CO, WI, STANFORD, MN, KU).

The only ones on the list I recall giving Hawk fans alot of heartburn were Arrington, Darboh, French and Barrent.

Fans seemed split on French IIRC as a raw athlete, but the fact that Oregon thought he was worthy of scholie got alot of people ticked we didn't get him. 6'5" 242 lb DE for the Ducks with 12 career TKLs as a RS FR. We could use him....

Barrent flipped to MSU after some off-field transgressions by Hawkeye players gave Dantonio some negative recruiting opportunities. His career was cut short.

Davis IIRC was considered not a good fit for Iowa with non-football baggage. He was dismissed from Vols team for rules violations, landed at Cincy were he was also dismissed....

Matt Pipho was probably a casualty of Iowa having a top 10 class in 2005 with 5-Stars Dan Doering, Dace Richardson. 4-Star Rafael Eubanks, plus Marshall Yanda (Pro Bowler), and 3-Stars Andy Kuempel, Kyle Calloway all in that class. Played sparingly until his SR yr at Miami, went on to med school so might have been a great Hawk too. Good article here

Excellent post! It gives a clear picture of how hard it is to win at Iowa. According to your information, Iowa has had 88 three star or better prospects since '02. Ohio produces more than that in one year.

It is difficult to win in Iowa for any school. There is not, nor has been that much football talent in the State of Iowa. Trivia question: How many native born Iowans are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Answer: Zero. When Kurt Warner gets in (and he should) he will be the first, and he didn't play at Iowa. We're a small state in the upper Midwest that isn't growing. It's tough to win here.

How many Iowa high school players even played in the NFL this season?

2010 David Parry (Linn Mar).....not sure how many stars he was listed with, but he accepted a perferred walk-on with Stanford and ended up starting on their defensive line for the last two seasons.
