Iowa gets Nine Days to Recover...

and then they go at it again. Nice break here after a torrential 7 game start to the season that Iowa somehow got 3 wins.

It's a shame they couldn't get either of the Purdue games, but 3-4 after 7 is amazing considering the insane schedule.

Fans have to be excited about these next 11 games. Iowa needs to put a run together.

Absolutely - if you'd have offered me 3-4 in this first stretch of 7 games, I'd have taken it in a heartbeat. Now that the schedule will be more manageable, I'm really hoping the Hawks can keep it up and take advantage.

I get the feeling Fran isn't the type of coach that is going to give this team any room to breathe though, just because the upcoming schedule isn't as difficult. So I'm not too concerned about any let down.

Almost more impressive than the 3-4 schedule, the fact that a loss at Purdue was disappointing, rather than inevitable. It may be a painful final 11 games, but it will be a good hurt, because we know they are so close.

masabe and bay need to spend 9 days looking at themselves and ask themselves am i man enough to stick to another man? i copy that comment from jack black in school of rock.

This stretch of better play really started with the Final exams break after the Iowa State and UNI games. The team has been playing much more cohesively since that break and it really started to show with the Drake, Central Arkansas and Boise State games and carried through this tough stretch of B10 play. Hopefully, they can come back off of another break even better for the home-stretch of games.

First time I've been kind of ****** after a loss in a LONG time. Thought we gave them that game tonight. A game like tonight makes you realize what pieces the team is still missing that hopefully we shore up next year.

Key to the game was rebounding plain and simple. Couldn't keep them off the glass and we turned it over too much in the second half to win. At half I started getting giddy about possibly being 4-3 after that stretch of schedule. Still have to remind myself what we all were thinking prior to the start of the B10 season. 3-4 isnt awful all things considered.

They should spend the time shooting free throws. That display tonight was about as aggravating as watching them give up all those offensive boards.

Honestly I can't imagine Fran loving the 9 day lay off between games. A few days would be ok, but the long break with the noticeably lighter schedule ahead could make for a relapse. That and there will be nothing to talk about on here during that time which is the way bigger problem.

Hopefully between now and the next game the football team will have hired a new DC so this site at least has some action, not including the latest transfer.

these 9 days would be awesome if hawkeye e11en can give me grammar pointer and help me make better posts from here on so i can make sense of what i wrote

I honestly thought they would be 1-6 at this point, and when they didn't close the deal in that first home game against Purdue, I wouldn't have been shocked at 0-7. It's been about as amazing as a 3-4 stretch can possibly be, but they need to follow it up by beating the cellar dwellers rather than joining them. Here's hoping Mel gets healthy and they come back ready to roll.

I am pretty pleased with the team at this point. Earlier in the season, I was concerned with those bad losses, but in the Big Ten season, they have come together enough to get 3 wins that I thought would probably be losses. My best case scenario had them beating PU and Michigan at Carver...but they exceeded that.

I agree with Fran that this break is a welcome one. Get Mel's groin healthy, and re-charge the batteries and get ready for the last 11 games.
