Algebra, it has so many uses!

Maybe this is a way to get elementary/middle school kids into math: here is the spread and the over, what does Vegas think the final score will be?

I bet there are a million potential ways we can tie gambling into learning math.

My gals daughters friend was over the other day. I was watching football and she comes in and starts chatting. At first I was like, oh great another female football fan. She tells me she likes the Vikings and that she is a Hawkeye fan.
I said yeah, I'm watching this game because..............
Then she started talking about players in the game I was watching and was calling them by name. (It wasn't either of her favorite teams).
So I decided to drop a little knowledge on her.
We will see if she picked up on it or not.
Sometimes it takes a little while for it to register. Sometimes they never get it.
We'll see.
