Iowa Football Notebook: Hawkeyes Talk NFL Decisions

I sometimes wonder if a player like Stone can shave a tenth of a second off his straight away 40 time and some time off his cone time by staying at Iowa and working on those muscles etc involved with speed and explosion.

And Stone has shown that he is football FAST which can make up for a tenth of a second. We will wait and see but if he projects 5th round or higher he will probably come back.
 
I hope Stone knows what he's doing, but I fear he's gonna be very disappointed with his selection if he does declare early.
 
On twitter, Morehouse sounds very certain that AJE and Wirfs are gone.



It would be awesome if both those guys go in the Top 10. You add that to the two 1st rounders last year, and George Kittle becoming the best U of Iowa marketing machine of all time, and Iowa is going to become a name that jumps out at high school recruits.
 
Looks like Gholston is coming back. He could have a monster senior year. He was a good yang to Eppys ying. Now someone else will have to step up as an edge rusher.

If Chauncey had held the ball on Eppys strip he would have been a defensive lineman with INT's in consecutive bowl games. I guarantee that hasn't happened very often.

That would give Plumb a chance to put on 25 more lbs and take Alaric's spot in 2021 as a junior with two years left.

Does Chauncey switch to AJE and Joe Evans/Waggoner play Chauncey role in the defense this year?

Hope Stone comes back as another year I think he’s drafted. This year 50/50. Think he gains by learning to be the smartest guy in the field. PP seems to find certain guys and make them cerebral.
 
We’ll see what happens with Geno. I sense that he’s leaning toward leaving, but he’s torn.
 
I’m sure Wirfs is gone, not so sure about Epenesa though. He really loves Iowa and may yet return. I don’t think he believes he accomplished everything he wanted to. In coming back, he will project as a unanimous first team all big ten, big ten defensive mvp, and first team all American. If he has a monster season he could possibly have a seat at the Heisman table. He could also be a top 5 1st round pick. Sure he will get a favorable evaluation from the nfl advisory board, it just depends on if he thinks he’s accomplished everything he wanted to accomplish. And then there is his diploma too. Hope he stays, but I can’t be upset if he leaves either.

He would be a big loss, but we have people back there who barely played this year and/or ended up taking redshirts.

Same with Oju graduating. There's more talent coming. I'm also confident with Phil's expertise on defensive backfields that he will figure it out.

Agree.

It would have been nice to have AJE and/or Wirfs back, but they're first-rounders. That's life-changing money.
