Ferentz, Hyde share Iowa MVP | TheGazette

From article:

Senior offensive lineman Matt Tobin was recognized with the 2012 Brett Greenwood Award, which is awarded to a walk-on student-athlete who embodies the values and behaviors of former Hawkeye walk-on Brett Greenwood. Greenwood is a former Hawkeye defensive back from Bettendorf, Iowa, who completed his playing career in 2010. Tobin (6-6, 290) hails from Worthington, Iowa. He started all 12 games this season, playing both guard and tackle, and started the final 22 games of his career over the past two seasons.

Established in 2011, the Greenwood Award also honors a former Hawkeye who fits the description, one year at a time, for each season Kirk Ferentz has coached the Hawkeyes. That recipient this year is 2000 senior wide receiver Kevin Kasper, who ranks third in career pass receptions and sixth in receiving yards (157-1,974).

Who got the Blake Larson award? What about the Corey Robertson award? And most importantly, the coveted Dominique Douglas?

Fill in your honories for these prestigious honors. You can do this year or any other in the KF tenure.

Here are mine for this year. Larson-Trent Mossbrucker, Robertson-None eligible. Douglas-De'Andre Johnson.

Congrats to this year's winners.

They should have skipped the awards and been out trying to save the recruiting season as it gets worse by the day. Feels like Brian is the only one out there making an impact.

The "I am clueless about game clock management" award went to kirk for the 12th straight year. He must love this trophy as he never does anything to get better .

When your center is your MVP then you really must suck. JF seems like a great kid and a good player but him being the MVP puts a stamp on how far this program has fallen.

Extra heartbeat award just means you try real hard but you shouldn't be on the field. 3/4 of the starters from last year should have been given that award.

Now can feentz and the other coaches get to something important. Oh wait....do they still all go on the cruise paid for my the university? They may have to wait to try and stop the drain of recruits until that party is over.

Not only is it a bad sign when the center is your MVP, but also when said center is a borderline draft pick at best.

Except for the fact it isn't paid for by the university, and it is after signing day. But don't let that get in the way of your agenday

My brother went, said is was pretty cool. Got to talk to KF. He's as big of a hawk fan as i know and didn't enjoy the season...and still enjoyed the opportunity.

I know, cool story brah.

But this was the selfsame cruise from which KF could not be troubled to fly back from in order to get in front of the Rhabdo story before it did any damage.
Made things worse when people were saying he did not care as much for his players as for his free cruise.

Even though McCall got a few carries last yeat I think he would be a worthy recipient of the Corey Robertson award. If not McCall surely Rodney Coe would bring something to the table.

How could you forget the "Bonecrusher" Williams award for the player who got arrested the most times? Hyde was this year's recipient.

I thought I read that KF was on a recruiting trip the weekend that rhabdo broke out.

Yes, KF was on a recruiting trip when the rhabo incident occurred, not a cruise that the University does not pay for.

It's clear the opinions of some our fanbase tend to get in the way of facts, so mired in ******** about things that they resort to making things up. It's hard to tell if they are trying to be cute and witty, or just stumbling through a pretty miserable existance.

Was there a bowl of orange slices for all the players to share? If not this was not an Iowa Football award's ceremony.

+1
Some of these comments are so far off that you have to wonder if the poster was just smacking the keyboard with their head.
