Iowa Football: An embarrassment

"1. Having an Iowa team lose at home to a winless in the Big 12 Iowa St. team is an embarrassment.2. Having a head coach think Jake Rudock is a better option at QB than CJB, and only changing QBs because of a threat in a Tennessee newspaper is an embarrassment.3. Having a fullback as your best option at RB for three years is an embarrassment.4. Iowa's OL two-deep for next year is an embarrassment.5. Having Matt Vandeberg receive significant playing time by a coaching staff who didn't think he was worthy of a scholarship offer coming out of high school is an embarrassment.6. Being 50 pointed and physically manhandled by Maryland and Minnesota is an embarrassment.7. Having the weakest and most incompetent AD in the B1G is an embarrassment.8. Having a coaching staff with no idea how to utilize the skillset of a Damond Powell or a Derrick Willies is an embarrassment.9. Having two terrible scholarship punters is an embarrassment.10. Having your head coach think watching more film and spending more time in the football facility will cure what's ailing Iowa football is an embarrassment.11. Replacing Kirksey, Morris, and Hitchens with Bower, Alston, Spearman, and Jewell is an embarrassment.12. Having a kick returner think you could lateral the football forward during a kickoff return is an embarrassment.13. Having a two-deep of mostly juniors and seniors manhandled by a Tennessee two-deep of freshman and sophmores is an embarrassment.14. Having a horizontal passing game and an offensive coordinator no one else in the B1G would even consider hiring is an embarrassment.15. Having a football program and fans held hostage by the worst contract in coaching history is an embarrassment."

This is all old news, heard it all before, nothing that hasn't been said a hundred times. Reveling in the past...that's why the Hawks are mediocre. That's why the fans accept mediocre.....poor little ole Iowa.

Man...it's gonna be a long off season

We can all thank kfootball for the long offseason. Let me ask folks: How much anticipation do you have for signing day a week from Wednesday? How much buzz is there around our recruiting, right now? Calling Iowa Football may be a bit of hyperbole, but all 15 line items do exist and are true. What is mind blowing is that there are at least 15 obvious and compelling issues with this program. We will be reminded of one on February 4th.

16. Having a recruiting coordinator decide he'd rather run a fast food joint than coordinate Iowa's recruiting efforts is an embarrassment.

It's an embarrassment that he'd rather be home with his family every night after work, than spend half his life on the road?

Of course that's not an embarrassment, but I did hear Eric Johnson express in a radio interview a couple months before he left how frustrating it can be to recruit football players to Iowa. You can't tell me that frustration didn't play a part in his decision to run a Culvers rather than continue on Iowa's staff.

Still not seeing how that's an embarrassment. Disappointing maybe, but frustration does not equal embarrassment IMO.

Well, you've made one thing perfectly clear.

The time is near for the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.

I hope that the word embarrassment is really just a figure of speech and not taken literally. I don't know about anyone else but my life goes on, and I don't feel embarrassment at all. I'm not Iowa football. Just sayin.

Then we obviously had the wrong recruiting coordinator. If he can't think of positives that the U of I has to offer academically athletics wise, then why has he been wasting his time and Iowa's time for a cause HE thinks is hopeless? We hear enough of that kind of talk from Ferentz. It's very apparent that many, many people - fans, alumni, coaches - especially Ferentz - are totally lost (including me) and are going down with the ship...

I agree with many of the 15, not all, but many

Yeah, #5 could be that the staff noticed a big improvement in him.

#12 was probably due to Parker simply panicking at that moment and not necessarily a reflection of the coaching staff.

Otherwise, it's hard to argue with this manifesto.

HOCKS23 - The ASU punter you speak of may possibly be as bad as both of Iowa's....he is god awful.

Umm, no.

I didn't take the time to read the entire OP. However, I will assume most of it is pretty spot on ... I realized over the last few weeks I need to cleanse myself of Iowa athletics ... The way the football season ended ... and the up and down plight of the bball program ... now has me pretty much entirely focused on Iowa wrestling ... It was either that or men's gymnastics ... :)

No, but I seriously do luv me some Iowa wrestling ...

Billso - I watch a lot of their games....sure didn't think he was over 40. He was awful in 2013, because people this year could not believe he was starting again...
