Iowa completes basketball coaching staff with final hire | GazetteOnline.com

This is impressive and a recruiting tool:
"Since 2004, Dillard has worked as a basketball marketing representative for Nike. He served as Global Camp Director, responsible for administrative and operational facets of a series of highly acclaimed camps and academies sponsored by Nike. Those camps included the Nike All-America Camp and select skills academies hosted by NBA stars such as Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Vince Carter, Amaré Stoudemire and LeBron James (until January, 2009)."

This staff has unbelievable expereince and X's and O's knowledge. Now the recruiting is the big question. ISU fans are on cloud 9 with their hire even though they have no coaching experience because he is "The Mayor" and will recruit every kid in Iowa but I'll take Fran and his staff come game time!! Iowa staff will have 100 years of combined coaching experience to...ZERO!!

If they can get cleared, Salter and Ware are coming. The big deal will be what happens in 2011. Good recruiters do it directly out of the gate.

I love this hire and staff overall. Fran completed his staff in about the complete opposite way that Lick did which is a very good thing for Iowa basketball.

Fran has made all the right moves since being hired - I feel much differently today than when I learned who had gotten the job. I can see how he turned programs around - the man is very smart.

He has put together a very strong staff on paper, signed a strong recruit, restored integrity within the program in his dealings with Brust and enegized the fan base.

I certainly hope I can make a trip to IC for a game this year - I do think it will be a tough one in Big 10 play, but I also believe very strongly they will be much more fun to watch.

I am thrilled about this entire staff! Good times are ahead of us! Welcome aboard coach Dillard!

But the real question every recruit will want to know is --

Does he have Kobe, LeBron, Nash, Vince, and Stoudmire on speed dial? :) That would trump 31 NBA GMs in a recruits eyes!

All i can say is wow! Fran has done an incredible job at assembling his staff. This is everything we could have wished for and more!

DAMN! JehovahShalom is right!

We're still lacking a graduate assistant!

What in the name of Allah is McCaffery thinking?

Dropped the ball again, I guess.

Don't we still need to fill the GA spot?

Yes.

I am very pleased with this final addition to the staff.
Love the AAU/Nike connections.
Love the experience.
Love the balance in this staff.

X's and O's- Fran,Speraw
Young recruiter with energy- Francis
Older recruiter with connections- Dillard.
Guy wired to NBA- Bowen
Younger guy/confidants to players- Francis and Bowen and GA?
Older father figure guys- Speraw and Dillard

I know it is just on paper at this point, but once again, Fran has hit a homer as far as I am concerned, with this staff.

Now, go out and recruit and win games,Hawks!
